Is that your team, Sydney 🤔

I don't think that anybody's as excited as they used to be, but I'm clinging on to the dream as best I can 😉

It was much better when we'd all meet at our local, no matter who was in the final, and have a bloody good session, and the current worldwide problem lessens the thrill of being there, but I'm clinging on Wink

Will be interesting to see how Clough can motivate his new team,

He still could be a future Sunderland Manager ....

Not bothered at all. Promotion is all that matters this season.

No it's not . . . . a winning mentaility is extremely important, throughout the first team squad and the 'fringe' players, including U23s with the ambition of being promoted to the first team, which will in turn affect our promotion prospects Wink

Some very positive news from the first half. We dont need to worry about any premier or championship coming in to try and take any of our better players.

Every cloud

The magic of the FA Cup Empty Re: The magic of the FA Cup

It concerns me greatly that success this season depends upon us scoring goals. Today, all four of our strike force had minutes on the pitch and none of them could score against a team from league 2. Grigg on for 90 mins and I don’t believe he had a shot!!
We do not have players that frighten the opposition. If the opposition can keep our wing backs quiet we are not creating anything.
I am one of the most positive people I know, but if we fail to get promotion this season, we all know why.

But the EIGHT changes indicate I feel that the match was superfluous in the eyes of the club.

We are 6th in the table, one point off second with a game in hand, TBH I have no idea how.

SAT 07 NOV 2020THE FA CUP - FIRST ROUND

Sunderland v Mansfield Town

Last updated on2 hours ago2 hours ago and verified as NOT Fake News From the section FA Cup

Sunderland 0-1 Mansfield Town

Lapslie  (49'minutes)

Nigel Clough's reign as Mansfield manager got off to the perfect start as the League Two side knocked Sunderland out of the FA Cup.

With Clough having been appointed as the Stags' new boss on Friday, caretaker manager Richard Cooper ran things from the technical area at the Stadium of Light and watched George Lapslie head home the only goal of the game at the start of the second half.

It was Mansfield's first win of any description all season, and was fully deserved as the visiting side sitting in 22nd position in League Two outplayed their higher-ranked opponents.
Sunderland were lethargic throughout, although Danny Graham hit the woodwork twice inside the opening 10 minutes. He clipped a first-time shot against the post after Will Grigg prodded Callum McFadzean's cross into his path, before heading against the crossbar from inside the six-yard box after McFadzean stood up another delivery from the left. With Marek Stech clawing away McFadzean's driven effort, Sunderland created plenty of chances before the interval but Mansfield carried a threat themselves and came close when Jordan Bowery drilled a first-time volley over the crossbar after George Maris crossed from the right.

[ltr]The visitors went into the game having failed to win in 14 matches but claimed a surprise lead four minutes after the break. Kellan Gordon swung over an inviting cross from the right and Lapslie got ahead of his marker to power home the header.
