Not great news
Sunderland AFC can confirm that Arbenit Xhemajli has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2020-21 season.
The defender, who moved to the Stadium of Light in September, suffered a long-term knee injury during the international period while representing Kosovo.
Speaking to safc.com, Phil Parkinson expressed his disappointment at the news.
“Unfortunately, Arby suffered a very serious knee injury whilst he was away with Kosovo,” explained the Black Cats manager.
“He will be out for the remainder of the season and it’s a real shame for him because he had settled into the club well.”
He added: “We feel for him, but we will give him all the support he needs to get through it, from the medical team and the staff to the players.”

Re: Not great news
UEFA & FIFA have both set up insurance funds to compensate clubs for injuries during international tournaments, such as the World Cup and the Euros a few years ago but I'm not sure if he will be covered.
