Following the news that supporters will not be permitted to return to the Stadium of Light in October, Sunderland AFC remains fully committed to keeping supporters in touch with their club.
Throughout the autumn, SAFC will be continuing to make significant investment to enhance its digital media offering, from live streaming improvements to the launch of an official mobile app.
On Saturday, the club will introduce a brand-new commentary team on the SAFSee platform, with Frankie Francis and Danny Collins, hosts of SAFC Unfiltered, taking you through all the action as it happens throughout the Lads’ Sky Bet League One campaign.
This follows a five-figure investment in streaming infrastructure during the build-up to the 2020-21 campaign, to ensure the service runs smoothly for supporters across the world despite the increased demand.
SAFC is also delighted to announce a new multi-year partnership with Low6, which will be spearheaded by the launch of an official mobile application, developed by the premier professional sports app vendor, Yinzcam.
With over 90 million downloads, Yinzcam’s stable of clients ranges from 24 NFL teams, including the Super Bowl LIV-winning Kansas City Chiefs, 21 NBA franchises, from the LA Lakers to the Chicago Bulls, and La Liga, as well as a plethora of other sporting powerhouses.
The club’s partnership with Low6 will also include the installation of WiFi within the Stadium of Light to ensure that when supporters do return, they can engage with the club on matchdays like never before.
Priya Narasimhan, CEO and Founder of YinzCam, said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to collaborate and innovate with Sunderland and Low6 to launch the new Sunderland mobile fan experience. The new SAFC app will include content, video, live scores, statistics, match tickets, stadium information, and more. New features, such as the Sunderland Picks game, also will allow fans to engage with the app, and to have a second-screen experience alongside the live matches.”
SAFC’s Head of Media, Oscar Chamberlain, added: “In the current climate, it is more important than ever to ensure our supporters remain connected to their club. Frankie and Danny have made SAFC Unfiltered an instant success, and I’m sure they will bring the same enthusiasm and professionalism to the live broadcast. We are also incredibly excited to be collaborating with Yinzcam and Low6 to develop a new mobile app, which will launch shortly. Further plans are in place to keep fans in touch with the club throughout this uniquely challenging period, and I’m delighted that we have been able to grow and improve our engagement platforms at such an essential time.”
The club's latest digital media enhancements follow the successful launch of the SAFC Unfiltered podcast, with a new post-match podcast also under development.
A live pre-match show within the SAFSee matchday broadcast will also be launched imminently, while Paul Fraser, the former chief football writer at the Northern Echo, is set to join the matchday media team from November to further enrich SAFC’s editorial offering.
Meanwhile, the club’s award-winning match programme, Red & White, can also be delivered straight to your door throughout the 2020-21 campaign.
Don’t forget to follow the club’s digital media platforms throughout the week, for all the latest news, views and content!
