Well Saturday brings our second home game and before we look at that I must say that Covids costs are now kicking in.
Pubs, bus companies, catering vans, cafes and clubs will all be on their knees, even division 1 incomes cant be lost long term and I'm not sure how many will survive.

That said its the now familiar stream for me and hopefully 3 more points.

Most of the team pics itself with goal keeper, back 3 and wing backs picking themselves leaving midfield and that potent strike force we all crave for.

A few options in midfield and TBH I'm not sure who I would go for but Power and Scowen may be Parkinsons choice.

I am hoping we go back to a front three of Gooch and Macguire with either Graham or Wyke in the middle, I know many see Wyke as a cart horse but not me and its Wyke who I would go with.

But its Parkinson who will decide, lets hope that whoever he selects will bring home all 3 points.

I see Charlie Boy as a decent centre forward who has been deprived of any decent service/support, and I'd pick him ahead of Grigg.
Having said that, all of our strikers have been deprived, which suggests that our playing style is the problem Smile

In terms of talent, Grigg should offer far more than Wyke. There are advantages at times of having a big lad up front but he's no Niall Quinn and he falls down far too easily for a big bloke. I'm afraid I don't have a lot of faith in him even if he gets the service. Grigg I think is different and Dan Neil could certainly help on the service front. That won't happen this week though and we'll see the youngsters left out again.

I haven't seen an update on Power's injury but it could be a Leadbitter/Scowen combo if Power is still crocked. It seems that that's the only way that Scowen will get in the team - if there are a couple of forced changes.

Still, we won last time with the team Parkinson put out. That's why I think he'll only change what he's forced to - remember all those games with an unchanged line up last season? We won a lot but it found us out in the end - both from a stamina and a predictability perspective.

People will be clamouring for Gooch to start after his goal, but was this clever by Parkinson to bring him on when the opposition had tired legs?

That's the other thing with Parkinson - I'm not convinced he brings subs on early enough to give them enough time to make an impact (excepting Gooch's goal of course).

It's a shame Parkinson doesn't consult me over team selection but if he listened to everyone he'd have 22 players on the pitch. The buck stops with him Smile .

How many of us would have picked the team Parkinson did last week? not many I bet....he got loads of abuse on social media before last weeks game followed by silence after...we just have to trust the team he selects

The only complaints I would have at the moment....

1.. our subs never seem to get much time to influence games (Gooch was the exception last week)

2.. the youngsters always seem to be overlooked and don't even make the bench even when fit

Totally agree. Hoofball with their backs to goal is pathetic and we do not seem to have learned..........yet. Play with wingers and put the ball in from wide. At least either Wyke, Graham or Grigg who all have 2 speeds either slow or dead slow would be facing goal.

Why?

Well done to a few of the lads but I'm right about Wyke.
