Sunderland AFC will face Gateshead in their first pre-season outing on Saturday 22 August (KO 3pm).
Taking place behind closed doors, the fitness-building friendly will be played at the Gateshead International Stadium.
The fixture will see Phil Parkinson’s side play their first game since March when the 2019-20 season was curtailed, as the Black Cats step up their preparations for the upcoming campaign.
In line with the latest advice from the Government and the EFL, spectators will not be able to attend the fixture. Whilst we understand supporters’ desire to support the team, we ask that all fans respect and follow the safety measures put in place and do not travel to the stadium under any circumstances.
Due to protocols put in place by the home club relating to Covid-19, SAFC will be unable to provide a live stream of the game. However, supporters will be able to follow all the action via the club’s other digital platforms.

Sunderland's friendly against Gateshead will be available to stream - here are the details
Gateshead will be providing a live stream for their friendly against Sunderland this weekend
Sunderland fans will be able to live stream this weekend's behind-closed-doors friendly against Gateshead.
Phil Parkinson's Black Cats will travel to the International Stadium on Saturday for their first pre-season game, which kicks off at 3pm, and it offers the first opportunity to see new signing Aiden O'Brien in action, along with fellow new arrival Bailey Wright who signed a permanent deal this summer after his loan spell last term.
ut, under the Government's current plans, football supporters will not be allowed back into stadiums until October, leaving live streaming as the only means by which fans of Sunderland and Gateshead will be able to watch the match.
Sunderland have been unable to screen the game through their platforms due to Gateshead's Covid-19 restrictions, which allow for only one camera crew.
However Gateshead will be providing a stream so supporters of both clubs can follow the action.
A one-game streaming pass, priced at £5, will be available via Insight4 and can be purchased by following this link.

Some fans on social media are whingeing about having to pay £5 to get the streaming of the match saying it's a rip off...wish they would look at it another way.... it's helping a non-league team get a bit of income which might just stop them going under
