Thanks for letting us know - not unexpected of course but a sad loss all the same.

Dave was a gentleman and a gentle man who was always kind and generous and a true friend to us on here.

The thing that upsets me most is I just found out from Daves mate, I messaged his sister to see if true, her reply was, I have no idea.

I now find that his sister is trying to find the number of the care home so she can find out, my upset is turning to anger, if I had known he was alone I would have gone down, bloody families.

It may not be all that it seems - you know care homes have not been allowing visitors during this crisis. But surely the care home would have phoned the next of kin and if not the sister you would have thought whoever it was would have told her. But you are right some families - you just cannot fathom how some people behave.

PS: it's not being a silly old sod to care kiss

Maybe a comfort, just before Dave was moved into care his neighbour Ray took him for a tour of Devon and Exmoor, he loved it and Ray visited him in the home.

And his beloved Norwich are still in the Premier league, just

Very very sad, a lovely man. RIP Dave x

He may not have had many of his family around but he knew who his friends were and the fact that you guys were always so supportive to him was a great comfort and a source of joy.

2 happy memories..

He came up when we played Norwich, yes we did once and he would sit with me. When the canaries scored he would sit emotionless but would give me a dig in the ribs with his elbow, I would turn to him to see that lovely smile on his face.

One more happy memory was when we had a Saturday night at an Indian in Sunderland, around 10 of us. In the middle of the meal Les Crago broke out in song, a full belt version of opera, Romeo and Juliet. Dave's face was a picture, that smile that said is this normal up here. Mind he did enjoy it.

Just heard about Dave's passing.

Only met him once at a Xmas do at the ground some years ago and he was a real gent.

Always annoys me when we lose a good'un when there is so much scum left on this planet.

RIP Dave.

Maybe its my raw emotions but I am f*cking disgusted. Dave had 64 friends and family on facebook and one friend posted about his passing.

Apart from his mates on SunderMad not one comment, no condolences, pack of f*cking bastards they are.

I stand to be corrected but I think 'friends' is the wrong word to use for connections on social media.
