Can't see SAFC signing anyone, loaners only as otherwise SD wouldn't have had to borrow 10M to keep whats left of his investment afloat.

As such the number loaned must be starters and better than what we have with the same number leaving so as not to display our youth.

Not pessimistic at all, just being unfortunately realistic.

BREAKING NEWS
Sheffield United have completed the signing of midfielder Jack Rodwell on a short term free transfer deal until the end of the season.
Of his first signing of 2020, Chris Wilder said: "Jack has been with us for a couple of weeks or so now and he's been excellent around the place.
"He offers us versatility and experience in a number of key positions and adds further depth to the group which is important at this stage of the season.

“Hopefully we can kickstart his career,” he said.
“He’s certainly got the desire from a physical point of view. No issues from an attitude point of view. I think there might be a club up in the north east – their supporters will chuck a load of stuff at Jack Rodwell. There’s two parts to that story by the way. I’m not a lover of fly-on-the-wall documentaries, I think they’re always looking for a villain.

Chris Wider has said a few things in his defence. Bound to I suppose but we were witness  to the complete lack of effort and desire to play. With or without the documentary, we are well aware of the character of the man. I'm very surprised that Wilder has taken the risk and was under the impression that he had a hard working squad devoid of piss-takers. Will this change the dynamic or has he learnt the error of his ways?

Actually, who cares? Back to worrying about my own team.

Have they not signed his brother by mistake?

Those plaudits do not seem to resonate with a Jack Rodwell.

Phil Parkinson has provided a January update

Sunderland’s January transfer business is expected to ramp up next week when Phil Parkinson meets with Stewart Donald and the recruitment team on Monday.
The Black Cats have a free midweek after a busy festive run of games which has seen Sunderland remain unbeaten in four games picking up eight points from 12.
Speaking after the comfortable 3-1 victory over Lincoln City at the Stadium of Light, Parkinson was asked for an update on the transfer plans.
Parkinson said: “We are going to have a meeting Monday with the chairman and all the recruitment team and get together and go through everything.
“We have obviously been liaising anyway over recent days.
“With everyone having games over the weekend things tend to get put on hold.”

  • Lyle Taylor, 29, striker, Charlton - contract expires at end of year
  • Lyndon Dykes, 24, striker, Livingston
  • Kevin Nisbet, 22, striker, Dunfermline - 29 goals last season for Raith Rovers and 15 this season

The key is if they are going to bring players in they have to be better than what we lose - this has been the problem this season - the players we lost were better than those we signed and so its hardly surprising the club has gone backwards

Disappointing - Bolton Wanderers have signed Muhammadu Faal from non-league club Enfield on an 18-month deal and brought in Manchester United's Ethan Hamilton on loan.

Rhian Brewster is being linked with a loan move to Swansea

Sunderland AFC can confirm that Dylan McGeouch has completed a move to Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen Football Club.
After moving to the Stadium of Light in July 2018, the Scotland international made a total of 42 appearances for the Black Cats.
SAFC would like to wish Dylan the best of luck following his move to Pittodrie Stadium.

Phil Parkinson has made an offer for Bristol City defender Bailey Wright, according to reports.

The Sun claim that Parkinson is keen to bring the Australian international - who is the Robins' club captain - to Wearside this month, and has even offered to pay his wages in full in a bid to strike a deal.

The same report also suggests that the Black Cats are one of the clubs willing to meet Bristol City's desired wage controbution for striker Antoine Semenyo

Sunderland have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Liam Boyce - with Burton boss Nigel Clough admitting he could leave in this window.

Hearts are also believed to keen on the frontman, with Clough admitting that players could depart the Brewers this winter if the correct offers come in.

Sunderland are in talks to sign experienced strikers Kyle Lafferty AND Gary Madine – both free agents - TEAMtalk can reveal.
Black Cats boss Phil Parkinson knows Madine from his time at Bolton.

Sunderland AFC have completed the signing of Kyle Lafferty.
The 32-year-old forward has signed a short-term deal at the Stadium of Light until the end of the 2019-20 season, becoming Phil Parkinson’s first January recruit.
Lafferty last featured for Norwegian outfit Sarpsborg 08, while the Northern Ireland international has also turned out for the likes of Burnley, Rangers, Palermo, Norwich City and Hearts.
After completing the deal, SAFC manager Phil Parkinson said: “I’m pleased to welcome Kyle to the club and I’m really looking forward to working with him.
“He’s an experienced striker who provides us with another option in the final third. He adds competition for places at the top end of the pitch, which is something I felt we needed.”

#SAFC are interested in bringing Liam Bridcutt back to the club this month - and are also looking at his Nottingham Forest teammate Zach Clough

Sunderland are reportedly leading the race for Bristol City striker Antoine Semenyo.

Bristol Live claim that it's now a two-horse race for the forward, who is expected to leave on loan this month, but the Black Cats are understood to have the upper hand as they are willing to meet the Robins' wage demands.

Semenyo, however, is understood to be keen on a move to rivals Doncaster Rovers.
