Well if your bum was not squeaking before yesterdays game it must be now.

I have copied our games from now through January and the table.

I must admit, it scares the life out of me and I am in total shock how we got here. I remember the day it was confirmed that Johnson had signed, the excitement, who would have guessed we would be here.

Ah! if it was only Pessimism I would be a happy man unfortunately it is realism that I am thinking.

look at our history since august -

D,D,D,D,W,L,D,D,L,L,W,L,D,L

If thats anything to go by then it doesn't look quite as pessimistic after all.

I think we will be having a tough time in December judging by the fixture list, we needed to make points whilst the sun shone in November.

As SNQ said on sunday Short has to back MoN in Jan, we need a new spine, a creative CM, a young fast strong CB, and another striker if young Mr Wickham fails his audition.

All optimism has left me I am resigned to yet another season where we flirt (but not go down.....) with relegation, it was ever thus.

I would really like to understand why Johnson and McClean are so useless..Sess is getting back to form but the other two well. I'll go to the bottom of our garden and eat worms

When Adam Johnson joined Sunderland there was a timid excitement around the town. The club had only recently acquired Steven Fletcher to fill their striking void, and now they had an England international in their midst.

Speaking at the time, manager Martin O'Neill said: "He has terrific ability, great delivery and I'm sure he is a player who will excite our fans. I couldn't be more delighted to have him at the football club."

Despite an indifferent opening to the season, few will contest Johnson has ability. He would not have earned caps with England or courted the interest of Manchester City otherwise. However the 'great delivery' O'Neill referenced has never seemed a facet of Johnson's game.

I guess the 2 best through balls we've seen at Sunderland were missed by the writer of the article - fact is we haven't seen it ENOUGH - we've seen glimpses - the pass for Fletchers goal at Fulham was sublime and then against QPR when Fletcher went through again that pass and vision was immense - just a pity he hasn't done it more!
