“We played a back four for 60 minutes on Saturday and we changed it because we hadn’t affected the game.
“Tonight, I wanted to play two strikers and I thought with the personnel the best way to do that was in a four. It’s just about picking teams and systems that suit the games. Yes, you want continuity, that helps, but you have to have flexibility as well.”

I thought that was a misquote and he meant tay we played with a back 3 and then changed it. Anyway, I reckon he means that he thought he could make a back 3 work, it hasn't really but he's not averse to trying it again if he thinks it suits the game. Just ruling nothing out.

Was that not his preferred option at St. Mirren? If played correctly with the correct personnel it could, imo, be a good formation. It gives any amount of options for all areas whether that be attack, midfiels or defence.

I must admit I thought 4-4-2 was outdated but if the players understand it then play it.

At least JR changes tactics if he feels it needs it.
