Who's leaving Empty Who's leaving

Post  Kipper on Fri 7 Jun - 12:45

Roker Report has an article about who's likely to leave from the first team. The first two names mentioned are Watmore and Cattermole.

I'm not sure that Watmore is "likely" to leave. I think that Ross rates him and recognises he has been very unlucky. I expect Watmore will be given more time to prove himself and he should do that with a decent pre-season and hopefully he will stay injury free. Surely his luck has got to change. I'd like to see him stay and when on his game should add another dimension to our attack. Getting rid may save £20k in wages and that is for the club to weigh up but I'm predicting he'll stay.

As for Cattermole, everyone can see what a benefit he has been to us this season. Does he want to do it again? Does what we could do with his wages count for more than he can offer us? I'm probably 50-50 on whether he should stay and also 50-50 on whether he will. If he goes, I hope we get the opportunity to give him a good send off.

I agree with all you say Kipper - on balance would like both to stay but suspect one or both may leave purely as they are both on good wages - far more than League One average.

But then promotion is surely worth £2-3m in wages? Could we get better for less money taking account of transfer fees, agents fees and yes we still have to pay wages even if probably 10% of the current ones? It is a conundrum that I am glad Jack Ross has and I don't!

I cannot imagine anyone making an offer for Watmore. How many games has he played the last 3 seasons? Not many.
