The list of famous people I’d prefer not to meet would be endless.  At a push though I suppose _

Mohammed Ali
Winston Churchill
Ernest Hemingway (only to say I got drunk with him and was then punched by him)
Boo Boo (I just loved Boo Boo when I was a kid)

Jimmy was daft as a brush but very smart cookie and was a very interesting bloke to have a chat with. Sadly he was/is a huge Newcastle United fan. He knew I was a Sunderland fan but there was always only banter, never any nastiness.

He was front man for a band called the King Crabs in late 1970's early 1980's. He owned loads of properties round Blyth and Newcastle so when I knew him he never actually 'worked'. He got his Equity card through his sister Val McLane who is/was a local actress. I assume after Spender finished he never needed to work again. He moved to London in mid-1980s and never seen him since.

Interesting, if slightly scary story associated with Jimmy, is the drummer in The King Crabs went missing never to be heard of again in about 1984/5. Word on the street was he was 'getting too close' to a local 'mafia' boss's wife! Maybe that's why Jimmy nicked off too eh?
