Strikers Empty Strikers

I think we can all agree that the Monday morning we woke to learn that Bent was sitting in a Birmingham hotel room is the day we last had a striker worthy of the title at the club.

Since that day apart from a very brief Gyan moment we have seen..

BRUCE
Try by bringing in Bendtner

ONEILL
Try with Fletcher and Graham

DI CANIO
Try with Altidore

POYET
Try with Scocco.

Now we rely on a striker bought for 8 mil but loaned out for most of his Sunderland career, a out of sorts Fletcher, a not a lot of hope Altidore and even a last gap Graham.

Is it time for Gus and Short to say sell them all in January and push the boat out to start again, I could give a list of not as exciting strikers on paper who could give a better return, there must be better out there, there has to be.

We have filled midfield with potential, have two top goal keepers, yes defence is a concern but none of that really matters unless we find someone who looks like being a threat.

I can see it
You can see it

Why do mangers come and go but not see it?  Mad

I have no doubt they can see it, but we can hardly go out and kidnap players if they don't want to come to Sunderland can we?  pirat

We tried to get round the 'Sunderland question' by overpaying on transfer fees and/or wages in the past. We ended up getting mercenaries like Bent and Gyan and journeymen like Bendtner (no matter what he thinks he is!) Fletcher and Graham and a young prospect, who was not ready for the Premier League at that time.

In my view, Ellis Short has now decided the club will no longer overpay, as he has seen us end up with players who we cannot move on, or who have no loyalty. He and Gus and Lee have agreed to only go for players who want to embrace our new playing philosophy, the club, the fans and the region. I agree with them, despite it being difficult in the short term.

Furthermore, I think we should not let a rather dull no score draw against a promoted club, who specialise in a tight packed defence, distract us from the good things we have already seen from the team, especially against Man Utd and Spurs.

Roll on Stoke in the League Cup tomorrow and Swansea on Saturday Very Happy

Sorry H but the good things we saw, against Spurs and Man u, WAS LUCK, PURE LUCK.
The question for me is, who is going to buy our cast offs? because there is only one dumb team called Sunderland in the EPL. Nobody wants them, the two decent ones we had, the " they hate me because Im a Geordie" sold them. Still don't know the truth behind that one either.

Bill mate, you depress the f*ck out of me. I thought we were absolute crap on Saturday but the Spurs and Man U games I enjoyed and yes we rode our luck but to just right us off the way you do is IMO insanity.

At the moment we lack creativity in midfield and we are not giving Wickham/Fletcher enough bullets to fire. Also the aforementioned two are not that good and find it tough to create chances for themselves never mind convert chances created for them.

Then of course the team itself is not 'up for it' in matches atm and we  lack intensity on the pitch.

So pace, creativity and intensity are all lacking....will the turn around start tonight.

O and sell Graham Altidore and the pay £20m for a half decent striker

Syd, your opinion is yours, and my opinion is mine, I never try to influence anybody elses opinion, but take a closer look, You are super Sunderland, whilst I am just peed of with all the years of neglect, my home town club has been put through, am sick of smoke and mirrors from manager after manager, and if my opinion wears you down, so be it. Because as I , sure as hell wont change.
