Snodgrass linked to Sunderland but no Scocco deal

Norwich City's Robert Snodgrass is challenged by Sunderland's Lee Cattermole.

SUNDERLAND have NOT agreed terms on the sale of Nacho Scocco, although Robert Snodgrass could be a potential replacement for the Argentine winger.

Reports in Italy yesterday suggested a deal had been struck between Sunderland and Scocco’s former club, Newell’s Old Boys, for the 29-year-old to return to his homeland after just six months at the Stadium of Light.
But the Echo understands that Sunderland are yet to accept an offer from any club for Scocco’s services after splashing out almost £4million on the wideman during the Janury transfer window.
Nevertheless, it seems increasingly unlikely that Scocco will remain on Wearside this summer after making minimal impact at the Stadium of Light following his arrival from Brazilian outfit Internacional.
Newell’s are favourites to re-sign Scocco, who spent a season on loan with the Argentine outfit, while River Plate are also mooted to be interested. But as reported yesterday, Boca Juniors appear to have pulled out of the race for Scocco, who is yet to start a Premier League game for the Black Cats.
Meanwhile, Sunderland - along with West Brom, Hull and QPR - have all been linked with Norwich winger Snodgrass.
It is thought that Snodgrass is a player on Sunderland’s radar, although the asking price for the Scotland international is likely to be an issue, with Hull thought to have seen an offer of around £6million rejected.
The 26-year-old, who is in the final 12 months of his contract, is expected to leave Carrow Road this summer after Norwich’s relegation to the Championship.
Sunderland, who have also been linked with a loan move for Chelsea’s Victor Moses, are in the market for a new wideman with Scocco expected to leave and Fabio Borini departing after the conclusion of his season-long loan from Liverpool.
Sporting director Lee Congerton made a scouting trip to Norwich at the end of last season, although it is unclear whether Snodgrass was the subject of his attentions.

I can't see any way Newell's Old Boys can afford this sort of money.  River Plate or maybe Boca Juniors, but few, if any, other Argentine clubs can talk £4 million.  The only way I could see this is if Gus has his eye on another Newell's player and would be prepared to discuss a part-exchange.

We are hearing Hull City have agreed a fee with Norwich for Robert Snodgrass and the player is now set for talks over a move to the KC Stadium.

Sky Sports understands Hull City have agreed a fee with Norwich for Scotland international Robert Snodgrass.
Snodgrass has one year left on his current deal, and has told the club he will not be signing an extension as he wants to be back in the Premier League.
A number of clubs have been chasing Snodgrass ever since their relegation from the Premier League with the likes of Sunderland, West Brom and Queens Park Rangers all credited with an interest in his services.
However, Hull have stolen a march on their rivals by agreeing a fee with Norwich for the Scotland international as they look to lure him to the KC Stadium.
Snodgrass has now been given the green light to hold talks with Hull as they look to add him to the signing of Jake Livermore from Tottenham.

Probably do not mind missing out on Snodgress (thought it was a little hamlet just west of Shotley Bridge) as he is a bit lumbering. We probably do need a left footed midfielder now that the ginger judas has left
