Liam Bridcutt Sunderland

Lee Cattermole will not be sold by Sunderland this month after all. Stoke City had been keen to sign the combative midfielder but Gus Poyet is unwilling to sell him to a rival at the bottom of the Premier League.
Even so Cattermole - variously described as "rotten" and "unprofessional" by Poyet's predecessor Paolo Di Canio - now faces serious competition for his first team place. Liam Bridcutt, the Brighton midfielder, was on the verge of completing a £2.5m move to Sunderland after travelling to Wearside for a medical and is expected to assume the role of sitting in front of the back four and helping choreograph the brand of possession football the Uruguayan is gradually instilling at Sunderland.
The League Cup finalists have also completed the signing of Ignacio Scocco, the Argentina striker for around £3m from Internacional of Brazil and loaned the midfielder Alfred N'Diaye to Spain's Real Betis. Meanwhile the defender Modibo Diakite is close to a return to Italy with Fiorentina after failing to establish himself in Poyet's plans.Louise Taylor

It gets better.....The Toon Fans are really going off at this one online... Laughing

Newcastle target Clement Grenier has rejected a move to Tyneside - and accused the Magpies of not making a fair offer.
Grenier was Toon manager Alan Pardew's only target to replace Yohan Cabaye, but he is set to draw a blank in his demands to replace the playmaker following his Wednesday move to Paris Saint-Germain.
The 23-year-old was the subject of a bid of close to £10million, which was rejected by Lyon.
And Grenier's agent has now claimed Newcastle's offer to the midfielder "did not seem fair" because they valued him at "half of Yohan Cabaye".
He also claimed the conditions on Tyneside would not have let him flourish as he chases a place in France's squad for the World Cup in Brazil.
The snub is another massive blow to the Geordies' director of football Joe Kinnear, who has failed to seal a single permanent signing since taking charge last summer.
Newcastle are now likely to bank the Cabaye cash, and proceed with a weakened squad for the remainder of the season.
Grenier's agent, Frederic Guerra, told Le 10 Sport: ‘It is not easy to say no to a big club like Newcastle, but alongside Clement, we have agreed that he will remain at (Lyon).
"Clement is trying to make his game even richer and he is showing that in his matches. With just six months until the World Cup would a departure from his current club be a good idea? I do not think so at all.
"Lyon are on their way back up and Clement does not want to leave when things are getting better. He does not want to abandon them mid-season.
"The conditions of his departure would not have allowed Clement to flourish. He would have arrived at Newcastle, not as Clement Grenier, but as Yohan Cabaye’s replacement.
"I have the utmost respect for the quality of Cabaye, who deserves everything that has happened to him. Is Clement really worth half of Yohan Cabaye?
"All these reasons led us to decline the offer of Newcastle, the conditions of the deal did not seem fair to me vis-à-vis Clement."

If we manage to beat the Nags for a 3rd straight time, I can see a little bit of a revolt happening up there regarding the sale of Kebab..
