We can be more flexible this time as the opposition will not have more of the ball,so for me 4-4-2 ,but have Borini up front with Fletcher, but then again why change a winning team.

I like Giac behind Fletcher but with Stoke having a big back 4 would be tempted to go Fletch and Altadori but leaving anyone out would be tough

With my oldest lad being at Uni down there, I'm going to make a weekend of it when we play them. I expect we will start with a very similar line up barring injuries.

Expecting to beat Stoke by at least 2 goals. They will come at us and we will get our counter attacking game working. Think and hope we will score three minimum.

For any team who thinks they can bully the opposition, Jozy Altidore is Satan personified. I know it's not the role you like, Jozy, but get in there, lad, and show them who's really the tough guy on the block. I doubt that they're going to like this very much.

Well going of Poyets selection and tactics in his short reign you have to have faith in the man.

First game was a none starter for him then we have 3 wins and a very credible 1-0 defeat seeing how we had 9 men.

So I go into the Stoke game trusting Gus to bring back the bacon, that will please Billy.

Hi everyone, I'd settle for a draw away to Stoke, although the way Gus has the team performing as a team we could all be slightly more optimistic, also hope the international break hasn't had a detrimental effect on the momentum the lads have gathered recently.

Agreed entirely, Syd. Gus has lost two games out of five. For the first of those, he met his players two days before the match - Jozy had to fly in from Kansas and Ki (who wasn't even eligible) and Ji made a 10,000 mile trip. For the Hull game, we were disgracefully let down by two players. The other three, he won. That's more than O'Neill or di Canio ever did.

All I'm saying at this stage is that we should ignore the two squabblng 'losers' and let Gus get on with what he wants to do. I honestly do believe, this guy has the necessary brains.

Hello to you as well....
I agree that a draw would be acceptable down there, but seeing as I'm going down, the lads will go the extra mile and win..

Will take anything positive from Stoke even a loss with a good performance. Agreed about the break but, the lads who were away seemed to do well and hopefully they'll keep it up.

What key battles are you looking forward too and which do you think could sway the result either way?

Brown Vs Crouch
Stoke Vs Sunderland key battles. 1u78
I think it's safe to say that we are relying on Wes at the moment which is frightening really considering he's made of glass. This weekend he will no doubt be put on Giraffe duty to deal with the pain in the arse that is Crouchie. Wes time and time again shows me he's the best defender to wear a sunderland shirt since Steve Bould, in my opinion anyway, and I expect him to be able to deal with Crouch. Unless of course Stoke are allowed to hit the byline regularly which usually makes Crouch unplayable.

Colback Vs Adam
Stoke Vs Sunderland key battles. Bbvj
Hughes is busy installing his new philosophy at Stoke which should see them playing less direct and more down the middle then what we've been used to seeing from our previous encounters with the Potters. This will make the battle in the park much more interesting with Adam looking to run the show on home turf. This is a big game for Jack as he'll be charged with the task of breaking up play, installing composure and playing it out.

I'm 31 fella. Bould was Amazing in his one season with us. Captained us to 7th.

Bould, Wes and Mensah my top 3 center backs in my lifetime. Typical they've only mustered 80 appearances between them. Not taking anything away from lads like Benno, Cradick, Varga (first stint) it's just the other lads brought/bring something really special to the position.

Indeed he is! Very Happy

I remember being 31, that was the season we got relegated to the 3rd division after that heartbreaking playoff against Gillingham. I was 9 months pregnant, it was past my due date of 15th May, and with the tension of that game all the old guys who sat around me in the Clock Stand were worried I was going to go into labour any moment. Laughing  My daughter was born just over a week later so very memorable time for me.
