Farcical decision by ref, only saving grace is he may have blown befoe Altidore shot. Either way we were still outplayed.

Disallowed goal, game changer,if it had been given which it should have, arsenal went back to looking like same old arsenal.
Very dodgy at the back,oh well lets hoping we can get something from our next couple of games.
Second half display has not made me disheartened, just that shite in the first half.

He did blow it so one should ask WHY when training ALWAYS says to let the play run it's course for 5 seconds min.

*** I'd like to get a second look at Arsenal third BTW

Just listened to Wenger on telly.

He admitted ref blew too early ..     yet another match changing decision by a ref.

Ref - watching on-line.
Sorry, I don't trust the download sites.

Tried one last weekend. It installed 'Delta' tool bar onto my pc.
Delta is well known for installing malware.
Took awhile to un-install it.

Which site so Syd can advise to stare clear of. I was using firstrow on Crome in Italy with no problems.
I only stream & NEVER use one which involves downloads. The odd pop-up but there easily blocked with up to date protection. Unless you want a young eastern bird at the interval.....

Well I went and thoroughly enjoyed it! Thought there were loads of positives.  When the first went in I thought it was going to be a cricket score.  Loved PDC going nose to nose with ref.

If we do end up going down at least it won't have been a boring season.

Technology. Most of ya's wanted it registered NO GOAL, hence the ref correctly pulled the game back and awarded a free kick to us.
Thought Atkinson and one linesman were rubbish but Arsenal were the better team. Cannot see why everybody is raving about Ozil. Wiltshire & Ramsay controlled the game not him.

First half, abysmal. We were frightened to tackle. 2nd half. looked as if there was some understandings starting to develop.

Fitness. We looked tired from 80 mins, why?

We need the win but still relaxed about it coming good later in the season.

Trouble is Gil - he should have played the advantage a bit longer, and much as it pains me to say it, I agree with Robbie Savage.
On R5 he said that Sagna should have been sent off as he clearly denied a goal scoring opportunity
But definitely think we will come good - too many good points in that game for us not to

Sitting in the North stand I thought Atkinson had invited "play on" with the hand gesture. Would he have changed his mind if it had been the top 4 team scoring? I think not.

I was pretty sure he'd blew his whistle - but was still on my feet celebrating the goal Embarassed
In retrosepct, he'd blew his whistle too early - should have played advantage longer, but Sagna's foul clearly stopped goalscoring opportunity so he should have been sent off

Mate, you are wrong. The technology showed it would have been a goal, but the ref blew for the foul as Altidore got away from his man and was about to shoot.
There is no logical explanation for the decision not to play on or the decision not to send Sagna off.

Four games into the season and I have reached the belief and consolation stages. I believe we can put this right with the current squad and console myself that other teams have pulled out of bigger messes. I am writing off the first half of this game and lay it squarely with selection and just grateful Arsenal were not out of sight in the scoreline. The second half evened it out thanks mainly to Gardener's influence, but our confidence and self-belief need bolstering.

Who would have said that the WBA game was massive (for all reasons) at this stage of the season.

Fair comment BLF re the technology but like you say why wasnt their player sent off then. Would one of our players been sent off if the roles were reversed. Yes.
The top 4 clubs are protected over and over again.
Why cant refs be brought out to explain their decisions just after the game the way managers have to come out and speak.

In real time the lead up to the goal was half a dozen of one etc between the two players. Back in the day the rule of thumb for refs was to give the benefit to the defending team, but this was altered to engender attacking football. His other choice could have been a drop ball or anything else he deemed.

Neither for or against refs but it riles me that they are the only performer on the pitch who must provide a 1000% correct service. Missed chances, injuries, bad decisions - all part of the game, until Sky came along and produced half a dozen angles analysis service.

Sagna's behaviour was a disgrace, certainly not befitting a professional footballer, playground antics almost having Altidore in a headlock.
Poor refereeing descision, disallowing the goal, and Sagna remaining on the pitch.Evil or Very Mad

Referees have an impossible job with every decision under scrutiny from sky cameras.
But this was not a debatable incident, Atkinson should have let the play pan out until there was an advantage, if no advantage was gained he should have brought play back to the original foul.
He blew just as Altidore was about to shoot, how is that an advantage?

We can debate the inadequacies of the referee all we want but that's skirting the obvious problem.

For all his wonderful passion and enthusiasm, IMO, Paolo is no more qualified or able to manage a Premiership football club than he is to fly unaided across the Atlantic.
