As it says in the title, what was the first pub you drank alcohol in, and how old were you. Me THE VILLIERS, aged 14, And served by an adult barmaid  aged around fifty years old, But I started smoking three years earlier, So I suppose in those days money talked, nowt much has changed since, apart from, the Villiers having been long closed.

The Queen's Head in Bramfield, Suffolk aged 14 years! I too smoked regularly from age 11 you could buy 4 Dominoes in a half paper packet for 6d - that's two and a half new pence!

I lived in Lincoln for 21 years, can't think of a Royal George though, where is it?

The only George I can think of is the "George and Dragon" on the High Street opposite Scorer Street!

The Royal George in Rasen Lane between Burton Road and Newport , was renamed in the 90s by some fool to the Tennyson .
Now being developed into a block of flats . Was used by the lads at Scampton airbase , and when I was in my youth a few belgians were stationed there and played canny darts and barbilliards . I took it on as a favour to a mate from a brewery to keep it open until they found a buyer .
This little gem was UPHILL not in the centre and if you were at Conningsby and Waddo you undoubtedly used Hykeham and centre town pubs .
The George and Dragon still remains by the riverside in town but is a crap eatery not a pub alas . And others around it have all been redeveloped and long gone . The Wheatsheaf to name one of my favs , played darts for the county from their , it had the most annoying mynah bird and back in the day the old guys used to feed it fags .
Ah a trip down memory lane ,,, geez that was a long lane guys Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

When I was doing my passing out parade, after six weeks in the RAF, My mother in law, a realy nice lady, and my then wife, Olive, came down for the ceremony, I booked them into the Golden Hind, or the Royal Hind, or something closely named. That was 1970, for the two of them it was Six quid for the b&b, And the landlord drove them to Swinderby . Happy days indeed. Was realy chuffed that a man gave his time and car to my family.

To BofE thats us true yella bellys for you , soft as shyte and then we go and support SAFC ,,,, hmm soft in the ead I sometimes think.
But its nice to see a friendly gesture stayed as a pleasant memory for so many years .
The Golden Hind down bottom end of the High Street near the south common I guess is where you had in mind .
Wonder if it is still there ? I know the Gatehouse and Blue Anchor both in that vicinity are still open with their original names .
