Sunderland boss Paolo Di Canio is believed to be readying a move for West Ham United midfielder Mark Noble.
The Italian manager is understood to be keen on increasing the English contingent of his new side at the Stadium of Light and, in Noble, has identified a target.
An admirer of hard-working, committed players, Di Canio is expected to favour a playing style on the pitch that combines flair and agression and Noble has been singled out as a perfect fit to those future plans.
However with West Ham under no pressure to sell, Noble would likely command a transfer fee in the region of £7 million.
Noble has made 247 apperances for West Ham since graduating from the youth ranks of the east- London side.
Sunderland have been busy in the transfer market this summer and have already confirmed several key signings, including Jozy Altidore, Emanuele Giacherini, David Moberg Karlsson and Vito Mannone.

Strange thing is, this is being posted by " Sports Direct " And why would the Hammers want to sell?.........BOE.

NO NO NO .....average midfielder or if its a Yes, only to replace Catts.

Get there next BIG star, New Zealander Winston Reid as a CB. He was there Player of the Year.

He'll be captaining them for sure this season having done it a few times in 2013/13 & will be doing so for NZ in the November Inter-Continental play-off for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Fulham are closing in a swoop for Sunderland's midfielder and former captain Lee Cattermole.

Cattermole has been told by manager Paolo Di Canio that he can leave the Stadium of Light.

The Black Cats’ no-nonsense Italian manager has initiated a huge shake-up this summer and wants rid of the red-card-magnet midfielder nicknamed 'Clattermole'.

The former England Under-21 international is now in talks with Fulham boss Martin Jol, who has cash to spend following the west London club’s takeover by US tycoon Shahid Khan.

Sunderland paid Wigan £6million for Cattermole in 2009, but are now set to let him go for around £2.5m.

A mate of mine,a West Ham fan, rates Noble as one of their best players...what I've seen of him he's ok..not sure if I'd sign him mind! but as fans say...in Di Canio we trust...he's trying to change the way we play and maybe Noble fit's into the system he wants

In Di Canio I have to trust so if he wants Noble then Noble it is, he could always change his name to Nobela
