Some more than others, but we've all got them.

Our current predicament will highlight them more than usual, and we all need to take appropriate precautions . . . . and take notice of Boris and his experts, who are all trying to protect us.

We'll all have heard about various groups either making the most of 'partying' opportunities 'while we can' and arseholes deliberately depriving others from buying essential goods via idiotic/selfish stockpiling, but we need to 'keep our nerve' and wait until this phase passes.

I think that this initial phase of stupidity will settle by next weekend, when we will be able to shop 'normally' 'cos people will, hopefully, realise how serious this is, and that there's not a food (or anything else) shortgage, so they'll just buy what's needed to replace what they've used.

Anyway, it's more important for some members of 'Sundermad' 'cos of age and health problems (I'm thinking in particular about Syd & Annette, and CanaryDave, but there are more with problems that are not so well known) that are no secret to any of us, to keep in touch with each other . . . . via here or outside of the forum, though here is a communal place where we should probably keep each other company (when we can).

We should probably all make more effort to keep 'Sundermad' alive (including me 'cos I don't post much), and in doing so we could possibly be helping to keep each other alive Smile

Having read what I've just written, I'm now wondering whether or not I should have said it, but it's still the way that I feel . . . . be careful, and good luck everybody  Wink

Excellent post Gordon and thank you for your kind thoughts.

Its been a major change for us here with my last escape, the weekly medicine run now over, everything is now delivered so no escape at all for us.

It does annoy me when I see others treating this as some sort of joke and looking for holidays, day at the seaside or the park but hopefully the penny will drop sooner rather than later. The downside is 24/7 in with Annette, she would say 24/7 in with me.

What will get me first, the virus or the daggers she keeps throwing at me?

Stay safe xx

Any regular reader on here will know my view on fighting this virus is to stay as fit as pos. I am still walking (solitary ) and eating healthily.

Walking is indeed a great exercise, mentally as well as physically.  Maybe not up Snowden though, the reports from yesterday suggest the summit has had one of it busiest days ever.  Mind boggling.

I know parts of North Wales reasonably well, you could walk for a week hardly seeing a soul yet some people choose to queue up to get to the top and take photos of dozens of empty summits.  Bloody idiots.

I've just heard from my son in law that his dad was bragging about drinking in his local last night 'via knocking on the back door' as previously arranged, along with about a dozen others . . . . stupid bastards Sad

My exercise is something I never thought I would say, gardening.

No idea what I am doing and cant do a lot but yesterday my gardener came over and did a tidy up, strim and first cut.

Annette and I are left with pots and borders to plant with lots of sit downs in between.

Well I managed to scavenge some food yesterday from what the hoarders had left but unfortunately I'm still at work next week so no isolation possible for me yet...just have to be careful til Boris puts the country on lockdown I suppose
….keeping my fingers crossed for my daughter, step daughter and grand daughter and a few friends that are classed as essential workers as well...scary times

Sadly there will always be some who think its funny and if they catch it we know it will always be someone else's fault, never theirs.

The Urban Dictionary has coined the term "covidiot" to describe those who go against public health advice amid the coronavirus outbreak.
The definition reads: "Someone who ignores the warnings regarding public health or safety.
"A person who hoards goods, denying them from their neighbours."

My prediction is you will have troops on the streets within a week.  Watch out for emergency COBRA committee being called any day now.

We are heading for total lock down except for supermarket and medicinal purposes from Wednesday.  It follows a bit of a spike in cases due to returning travelers so given our geographical position a bit of wisdom has prevailed and maybe we could be the first country choosing to self isolate.

The general thinking is by keeping it out our recovery period could be relatively short,

My wife went to Sainsbury’s yesterday and saw a fella with a trolley stacked to the top with bog roll so she called him a right selfish bastard.

He said,  “That may be so madam but could I finish stacking the shelves”.

Joke btw, her profanities are saved for me. Crying or Very sad

I work (well I'm gainfully employed) in a care home. No self isolation for me but fortunately I am still a relative bairn on here compared to most of you fossils.

As GA's OP stated just look after yourselves best you can. As he also stated we should make more effort to keep in touch via various mediums (Not Derek Acorah) such as facey when I am allowed on, Twitter, Watsup etc.

Without the footy I think most of us need to look for an alternative escape. Learning another language might be something I do. I may also study some history about Sunderland and a place I love York.

Here we are to have a 21 day lockdown kicking in from Thursday, think you may have similar measures there once Boris has done is bit in the next few minutes.

Watched Boris's announcement and must say I am not surprised in view of how lightly people, especially in big cities, more or less ignored all advice about distancing.

Spoke to some rellies in NYorks and they reported that Mother's Day was apparently a grand day out at the resorts, especially Whitby and Scarborough.
