Wycombe Wanderers v Sunderland AFC Empty Wycombe Wanderers v Sunderland AFC

Post  cyprussyd on 2019-10-16, 6:28 pm

On Saturday we travel to Adams Park to get back to league action in a 3 o'clock kick off.

So far we dont have a manager and will be facing a manager who was amongst the front runners to take over. My guess is it will be Phil Parkinson's first game in charge and we will see the new manager bounce with the players wanting to do it for Ross, time will tell.

Whatever the rights and wrongs of sacking Ross one thing is certain, we need to get back to winning ways on Saturday.

Team selection will be interesting.

It will be interesting what team is selected for todays game...will it be defensive or will it be an attacking one?

Either way I believe we may get a surprise win due to the players putting a bit more effort in to impress the manager

Well it sounded pretty dismal on the radio - plus we had the added bonus of a very loud and sweary 'fan' just in front of Benno and Barnesy, so that was quite offputting for listeners.

Plus side - Watmore started and sounded involved, Hume made a few good runs and crosses, as did McGeady. Wyke got injured and went off at half time. I would have replaced him with McNulty instead of Grigg. Burge seemed to have a good game and Benno commented his distribution was good a few times.

Negatives - never heard Griggs name mentioned except when he came on and about 10 minutes before the end. Needs to do more as I do not think we had a shot on target although had one of McGeady's pushed onto bar by their keeper. Hume is great going forward but cannot defend especially against people like Akinfenwa.

Overall - must do better as we have to get promotion, given we run out of parachute payments after this year. Lots of work to do.

very underwhelming start for the new manager - we had 60% of the ball but half as many shots and only 1 on target all game - not going to win many games that way

Grigg just doesn't suit the way this team plays - complete waste of money

Ipswich are going to walk the league it looks like so realistically speaking there is only 1 other automatic promotion spot up for grabs and so far we don't look like being the team to take it (with just about the worst goal difference in the top half of the table)

started off the season feeling quite positive but that well has run dry

Social media is full of fans, good fans, saying how they are going on Tuesday but its because they are good fans, not because they are looking forward to it, I am one of those fans.

Unless things turn quickly, and they can, the crowds will drop and once they stop going they take some getting back.

Critical weeks ahead IMO.

Well Parky has a track record of getting teams up so lets give him a chance to stamp on the players how he wants it done. Way way to early to get despondent yet. Sooner rather than later mind. KTF its what we do isn't it?
