Re: Please Please Please
I am a big Sam fan, loved him when he was here and certainly dont blame him for leaving for his dream job, you can feel the but coming cant you.
I hope and pray that Donald and the new owners stay strong, I think they will and stick with Jack Ross. The very last thing we need IMO is to be going back to the sack the manager days, it never works and I had hoped that we had learnt that lesson.
I read on Twitter how Ross has lost the fans, not correct but I would love it if someone can explain how they know he has lost the fans. 4000 fans traveled to Bolton and some of those fans turned on Ross. On Twitter there is strong reaction to Ross and many want him out, maybe a few dozen who have always wanted him out so, again just my opinion looking at the facts, a small vocal minority want Ross out.
We have had two poor performances on the trot, I hear this has being going on for months but I have seen some good exiting attacking football this season and some not so attractive.
9 games played, some bad performances but still sitting in 5th place and two points behind second place and this to some is failure.
So if the small minority win and Ross is sacked I will be very unhappy about it, for me it will be back to the old panic days that played a very big part in seeing us relegated twice, not for me.

Re: Please Please Please
Do you realise we are in the 21st century, the average time for a manager to stay with 1 club is now down to 1.23 years.
I do believe Sunderland does need some continuity, but having said that I also believe Ross should show some continuity in his team selections.
Many of us now believe Ross is blindly scratching at anything and this will dishearten the players sooner than later.Obviously the man has his favourites and also his scapegoats. For sure this is a recipe for failure.
So Jack lad I think your 1.23 year is up.

Ok so I get you want did of Ross but quoting the average manager's tenure is not an argument for us to follow suit. That policy has not bred success.wanderer wrote:Do you realise we are in the 21st century, the average time for a manager to stay with 1 club is now down to 1.23 years.

Re: Please Please Please
Whilst I can understand the frustration that we all share at not winning games that are there for the taking, but I cannot understand why so much vitriol is aimed at Ross.
He too, must be frustrated, particularly when against Rotherham the game should have been wrapped up before half time and again yesterday despite not playing well a series of missed chances if taken, would not have relied upon an injury time penalty to capture a point.
Ross puts a team on the pitch from a much improved squad, that should be more than capable of doing the job. But, if certain players do not perform all that Ross can do is encourage at half time and sub the poor performers. Many have criticised Ross for not playing Maguire against Rotherham, when he did come on he was appalling!! he , amongst others are not consistent enough which must result in further frustration.
I don't think he knows his best eleven yet and whilst we all have an opinion I don,t think any of us do too.
Replace him?, who with? It's time to stay strong and persevere with Ross and hope that certain players start to gel and show some consistent form. the division is still there for the taking and I remain optimistic.

Re: Please Please Please
Don’t know what camp to be in,yes we need continuity and stability and we haven’t played that many games so far and we’ve had some decent results, but on the other hand the last two games in terms of results and performance have been diabolical and hark back to the end of last season so I’m not sure what the answer is, I’m sure Ross is shaking his head as he seems to be a honest and hardworking man but one thing is for certain his tactics seem questionable and when it goes wrong there’s no plan b , I suppose when the takeover is done they might want to bring in their own man so it’s probably worth sticking with what we have until then and give him a few more games as it’s still a long season and we’ve only just started and probably too early to push the panic button

Re: Please Please Please
I was a little foolish with my initial post about Ross, obviously Donald wont sack him and the prospective new owners are in no position to do so. So unless he resigned he wasn't going to leave.
