I had a gastrscopy today, that's a camera down your throat and into the gut, only takes about ten minutes but that's ten minutes of gagging and retching.

Tuesday next week I have the cystoscopy that was delayed due to my low haemoglobin.

Thursday next week I meet up with specialists who will decide when to stick a camera up the other end.

Isn't life grand, nice to have a bit of distraction from Brexit

i've had that experience - not the greatest quarter of an hour of my life - hope it all goes well for you!

also once had a camera inserted through another 'opening' now that really did bring tears to my eyes....

Thanks Fitz, I've had two of the three with the third one to come, the catheter doesn't bother me but I'm not relishing the one up the backside  Embarassed

I have a gastroscopy (endoscope) done on a regular basis due to losing my father with issues to do with his  oseophagus,

I prefer to be sedated only I just could not stand being conscious and having to have a tube shoved down your throat, bad enough having had one shoved up the nostril when I had a hearing problem.

The colonoscopy is another regular having lost my mother to colon symptoms. The worst part to that is the liquids you have to take prior to the procedure you don't  need to eat a bad Indian to have yourself running to the toilet every few minutes in fact you more or less end up on the toilet all night, not the best experience.   Evil or Very Mad

I had the gastrscopy with just a throat spray and it was bloody awful, constant gagging.

They sent me for a CT Scan to see if there were any problems in the bowel.
The good news is that the bowel was clear but I have a concerning build up of lymph nodes on the bilateral interior iliac artery and a mass in my upper right lung, not good news at all!

Easy to say I know but if they can keep on top of things and regular checks are made then hopefully it can be nipped in the bud. I'm going for a full MOT quite soon due to concerns, here  I pay privately because I am still on my UK/European passport so I do not get free medical aid.

Yes, there's not much anyone can do Dave but your attitude is commendable. I had 2 'near death' experiences last year before having a pacemaker fitted.
This might cheer you up:
A group in the pub were talking about the worst pain they had ever experienced and one said:
"Well, the 'second worst' pain I ever had was when I caught my knackers in a bear trap"
"Shit"! said his mates "What was the 'worst' pain you suffered then"?
"When I ran out of chain"!

Hang in there mate, you'll be right.
