Well after Tuesday evenings cup distraction we welcome our old foe back to the SoL for, yes you guessed it, a must win game.

Oxford was our first game so a draw was a disappointment but not the end of the world.
Ipswich was a tough away game so a draw was not the end of the world.
Saturdays game is a tough game however it is a game we must win to ease the pressure, with a growing call for Ross out anything but a win would see that call grow. A 1-1 draw would increase our 1-1 draw specialists  reputation.

Please lets ease both with an emphatic win, please, please, please, I am not above begging.

30000 that includes the Pompey fans.

1-1 but us winning this time.

McGeady to be fouled repeatedly by them again.

Praying for a win just to get the bell ends off JR's back for a short while.

Well Tuesdays result will have given Ross lots of food for thought, starting with the left back position, hopefully Hume will be back.

He must go 4-3-3 and Mcnulty and McGeady must start.

Interesting. I'd like to see a place for Maguire. It's strange though that the Echo and Roker Report had very different views of his performance last night. There may have been some sloppy passes but his creativity and contribution to pressing forward and to try to take the game by the scruff of the neck are factors why I always like to see him in the team - especially against a team like Portsmouth who aren't going to be shy.

Whilst I do like O'Nien, I would rather see McLaughlin play in his best position at right back in a four.

As for Hume? Is his confidence shot? May be a risk against Portsmouth?

McGuire and Gooch, a dilemna as to which to pick, but agree on McNulty and Wyke

Good team Syd but like kipper I would like a place for McGuire but who do you drop? Would the officials notice if we sneak 12 on the pitch? They didnt at Tranmere did they?

The goals should have given the team confidence last night but will Wyke be OK for 90 mins?

Regardless of who plays we should have a decent bench again.

I said 30000 gate in another post. I think last nights win has probably just added another 3000 or 4000.

A srappy 1-0 win would suffice. I would settle for 1-1 as it was shown last season we are two closely matched teams and how will Marquis do? Hopefully McNulty gets his first hat trick for us and we win in a high scoring good game.

I am away on holiday tomorrow so will not be on Chatbox for Portsmouth on Saturday or Rochdale on Tuesday. Anyone can always access Chatbox at bottom of Home page if you want to see who else is around.

Bit annoyed with Sky scheduling as we're on telly on Saturday and I will miss it Sad

Have been packing stuff all day and no idea how it's all going to fit - even in two cars. So think of me tomorrow - cars in convoy down the A1 -> A69 -> M6 - first to Southport for a few days to visit friends and then on to Wales for a holiday by the seaside. Yes I know we live by the seaside already - but it's a DIFFERENT seaside - and we will be at a holiday camp with all the facilities that a two and six year old seem to need these days.

Have to say, this was not how I saw our holidays, once we were both retired!!
