NORWICH CITY 2 - 1 SUNDERLAND

Dear Faithfull Sufferer,

We conceded some very poor goals and that gave us an uphill task.

From the moment we conceded the second goal I thought we played very strongly.

In the second half I thought we created lots of decent chances and we were unfortunate not to put two or three of them away.

If we show the same spirit as we did in the second half today for the rest of the season then we have nothing to worry about.

We started tentatively and after we conceded that early goal we were on the back foot, setting ourselves a tough task but we rose to that.

Whether we’re playing at home or away you have to compete and that’s what we did in the second half.

We saw more of the ball after half time and gave ourselves a lot more options and proper playing time.

If we show the same determination and ability in our upcoming games, we’ll be fine.

All the best,

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Martin O'Neill

I posted previously a new tactic MON & the players should consider.

Lets start the game with the other team in the 1st minute. Not the 2nd half or when we go a goal down.

Saw enough in the 2nd half to suggest we will move up the table but we need these points sooner rather than later. We did not look like a team short of confidence today but if you do not convert your chances your not gonna win.

we looked short first half but not second, not all down to Wickham but..

Rose was pushing Johnson forward and making him play

Wicham made himself available, unsettled defenders, ran, muscled and scared them, if Fletcher had been on he would have scored and used the space.

Please put both on next weekend with Sess either on the wing or behind them

Nearly 4-1-3-2 then Wink Maybe we can hypnotise the Boss Man cyclops

To little to late..

Can not be forgiven for that first half, no matter how much he tries to tart it up about the 2nd half.

The big,big concern for me is, if Fletcher had not been injured would we have seen Wickham or just had more of the same until the last 20 minutes?

If the Fletcher withdrawal was precautionary maybe MON saw the game as almost over but Wickham brought a fresh vigour to the performance. Rose took advantage of the room created by him and did a great job, for my money he should be used a LM as he covered a tremendous amount of ground. If the chances had fallen to more accomplished strikers it would have been some fightback.

Saw hints of better use of the wingers and maybe the Steve Guppy influence is coming throough, especially with McClean.

Lots of talk on our board about how Wickham was pivotal to Sunderland's 2nd half improvement! Many Norwich fans remember him from our "old farm" derby days in 2010, and all are commenting on how much he has improved! MON MUST start him, preferably with Fletcher in a 4-4-2!

Certainly a tale of two halves, 2 very poor goals conceded.

Gardner who was not playing well found his shooting boots and Killa missed a sitta, McC was hopeless and Johnson only improved a little. I think Seb is lost in CM, he has to be RW or nothing particularly if Gardner is taking all the free kicks there is not much reason for him to be on the pitch

Best 45 minutes I have seen Sunderland Play and we did not get a point!

Can we play 2 front, Fletcher and Wickham against Chelsea, drop McC and put Sess on the Wing.

We do need a CB as it looks as if we are missing JoS and who is Brown I forget, Killa getting yellow carded against Holt so early on did not help the cause either.

I was on chatbox sunders and said he was in trouble, Killa that is, thought he would be sent off, a few rash tackles early on.

yes, we have 'ageing' centre backs, so obviously they are going to be more prone to injury...

who would we get ..... younger and at a reasonable price... ?

I tried to get of chatbox yesterday and could'nt?

For there first goal I think the ball was diverted away from Mig by Carlos's hand. For the 2nd goal the two CBs looked as if they had not played much together..they have not

yeh leave sebb out for a few games he's not needed while Gardner is taking the free kicks it may give us a little change of formation and allow wickham to come into the side glass
