Ipswich Town v Sunderland AFC Empty Ipswich Town v Sunderland AFC

 Ipswich Town v Sunderland AFC
Saturday 10th August
KO 15.00
Portman Road

We follow a disappointment home start with a far from easy first away game, I'm sure Dave will be giving us an extra cheer for this one.

Ipswich will be looking for an instant return to the championship and will have us targeted for all 3 points.

But that may be good news, we do play better when challenged but Ross needs to find that winning formula and find it quickly.

I was disappointed on Saturday but far from downhearted, Oxfords goal was all down to us, not bad defending more sill defending that hopefully can be put right. A back three should work but I have yet to see the proof it does with our squad. Its not the back three that was the problem is was the wing backs who did a fair job going forward, OK a better cross would be nice, but getting back into a back 5 when defending was the problem. Hume was stranded a few times in no man's land but if that's the system Ross wants then he should stick with it and drill drill drill all week. Mind I cant help but think that O'Nien's energy and ability may be a better choice on the right.

In midfield I was fine with Dodson and McGeouch but Embleton needs to up his game as provider but to drop him after one game would be unfair for me, stick with him.

But we all know the problem, goals, we did make the chances to win on Saturday, we simply did not take them. Personally I think we were crying out for the much maligned Wyke, he spearheads the attack and wins balls, OK he may not score goals but he can make them for others, on Saturday we reverted far to often to long balls in the air with two strikers who dont win long balls, Oxfords centre backs had an easy day.

I so want Grigg to come good but so far he has not so give Wyke and McNulty a run.

I know its only the second game but the pressure is already on.

Many want Ross out and are pulling their hair out at his tactics, for me thats simply a negative waste of time. Donald will decide when its time for Ross to go and until that time comes, cant see it any time soon and thats fine by me so until that time as a supporter I will support. Negativity for me is and has always been a cancer that destroys. I have no problem with opinions we all have them. The manager, owner and players are not above criticism but their is a massive difference for me between criticism and a constant droning of Ross out and even worse mindless abuse.

Anyway, I'm counting the days for my afternoon with Barns and Benno. See you there.

He will. He'll be back in two weeks and run other teams ragged until the end of the season.

This won't be the team but I'd try:

                                                      McLaughlin
                               McLaughlin       Willis/Ozturk      Hume
                                                McGeoch     Dobson

                                                     Maguire

I agree with having Benji there. I kmow there is some sort of contractual dispute but he gives us something different when he is on the pitch.

Will try and stay awake for this one. Big game in my view and JR badly needs a convincing win. Enough said.
