On Luke O'Nien....

Loads of well deserved praise for this lad for the effort and attitude shown throughout the 2nd half of the season after he came in at right back in the away game in December against Portsmouth.

Since then there have been calls for him to play in his "natural " position in central midfield due to the good form he showed playing right back.

Bearing in mind he played in midfield on the first game of the season and was hauled off at half time with many fans, including a few on here proclaiming he quote.... "was out of his depth"..... and "looked like a frightened rabbit in headlights" where would you play him?

Simple choice.....midfield or right back?

As it looks like Mathews could be leaving I think he should be 1st choice right back with someone else signed as cover or to challenge for that position

Part of my reason is that we need a bit of physicality in midfield and he doesn't provide that (unless we play him alongside someone that does?) and I think his energy and drive suits the full back position.....but your thoughts?

Right back because I think he's done a great job there and will only improve . My view isn't because I don't think he can do a job in midfield, but he's proving himself where he is. At the end of the day it all depends on who else we get in and how he fits into the new team but I want him to have a future with us and be a regular in the side.

For all he has done reasonably well at RB since the Checkatrade trophy I think he has been found out a little bit.

I totally agree we need physicality in midfield but this fellow in my opinion could play behind the centre forward as I believe he has the intelligence to put little balls through, play it to the wings and chip in with a few goals. Pre season will see JR try a few things and he will make that decision.

Whatever is decided I hope the bloke is with SAFC for a good number of years.
