Mr Bowen will be visiting the Roker area of the city of Sunderland in July and the annual state dinner to honour his presence will take place on Saturday July 13th.

All times will be confirmed nearer the date but it is envisaged that the program of events for the state dinner will be something like..

Pre dinner drinks and polite conversation at The Promenade Seaburn...19.00

State dinner at The Shagorika, Seaburn.....20.00

Table for dinner wont be booked for some time so at this stage I am just looking for ideas of who may be going, confirmation will probably first week in July.

During Mr Bowen's stay he will be in residence at The Balmoral Executive Guest house for the deluded and infirm, visits and photo opportunities by appointment only.

With Mr Bowen now representing a Premier League Team dress will be formal for guests but canary yellow for Mr Bowen.

Delighted Dave feels well enough to make the trip but it's Durham Miners Gala that Saturday and I have organised a bus trip from Berwick for the day. We are returning North at 6pm so sadly I won't be able to make dinner. Really sorry Sad

Really sorry, but don't think me and Nick can make this
It's the day of my sister's 50th birthday and expect we'll be going out for a family meal
Obviously will see Dave - and hopefully Syd - during his stay before then

It seems Saturday is becoming a problem so would it help if we switched it to the Friday evening?

Sorry still cannot do Friday night - I just can't do anything that weekend with the Durham Miners Gala trip on the Saturday all day - kids are coming with us so lots to organise for a full day away with them.

Has Dave already booked travel and accommodation? July 6th would be okay for me and Mr H (it is my birthday on 5th!) The following week 20th July is start of school holidays so will be more expensive on trains and more hectic!

I know it is a nightmare organising even just a few people to get together. I spend my life organising meetings of people who live within a 30 mile radius and we still have trouble finding dates/times we can all agree on!

Absolute disaster.

Dave arrived in Durham at 15.15  Wednesday but at 1.00 Wednesday morning Annette had a nasty fall and by early Wednesday morning it became very clear we needed help.phone 111.

By 10 Annette was told she had broken her hip and would be in surgery that afternoon.

I left Annette, collected Dave and not him to Sunderland, by 7.30 Annette was out of theatre and fast asleep.

Thursday she had a bad reaction due to complications through her various health problems.

I then find out that Dave had a very bad Wednesday night and spent all of Thursday in bed.

Poor Jerry and Nick have been lumbered in trying to look after Dave and Dave is eating alone on Saturday evening.

Good times had by all.

Oh my goodness what a terrible shame.

Syd: Give my love to Annette and make sure you look after yourself too.

Dave: I hope you feel better today and enjoy your night out with Jerry and her family.

Jerry: You are a right trouper - thank you for looking after Sir Dave.
