Not complaining about Honeyman but weren't Power and Oviedo suspended for the checkatrade aswell when they got reds? Do the FA know what they're doing?
Maybe the fa have decided the better punishment for us is to ban him for the more important league games

It is explained here - basically the FA made a ricket earlier in the season and have now been forced to correct it.

George Honeyman will be eligible to play in the Checkatrade Trophy final - despite Sunderland losing their appeal against their skipper's weekend red card.
The FA have rejected Sunderland's attempt to overturn the three-game ban Honeyman was handed following his dismissal in the 1-1 draw at Wycombe Wanderers.
But they have also revealed that the Checkatrade Trophy disciplinary rules have changed mid-competition, which means Honeyman will be able to lead Sunderland out for the final against Portsmouth at Wembley even though he will not have completed his suspension.
Earlier in the season, players serving a suspension were told they were banned from all domestic club football until their team had completed three first team games, with first team games were defined as matches in the Premier League, EFL, FA Cup, and EFL Cup.
That meant they could not play in Checkatrade Trophy games, however missing those matches did not count towards their suspension.
Back in September, that meant Max Power's three-game ban after being sent off in the league against Oxford United effectively became a four-match ban because he was also ruled out of the Checkatrade Trophy game against Stoke City U21s.
And in October both Power and Bryan Oviedo saw bans imposed in the league effectively extended by an extra game once the Checkatrade Trophy tie against Carlisle United was added.
But the farce could not continue and the authorities have belatedly changed the rules, with Honeyman the beneficiary in this case.
His ban will rule him out of the next three league games - against Barnsley tomorrow, at home to Walsall on Saturday, and the trip to Accrington Stanley on April 3 - but he will be able to play in the Checkatrade Trophy final on March 31.
Honeyman was sent off in injury-time at Wycombe after angrily pushing a member Chairboys assistant manager Richard Dobson who had kicked the ball away, preventing the Black Cats' taking a throw-in as they pushed for a winning goal.
That incident sparked a melee on the sidelines involving players and staff from both clubs, with Honeyman and Wycombe's Nathan Tyson - both of whom had earlier been substituted and were watching the remainder of the game from the bench - shown straight red cards by referee Lee Swabey.

I have consulted the cards, spoken to those in the land of spirit and shaken the balls, that bit was quite painful, and be assured, we will win, I think, mind we could draw, maybe.

That would be mine as well however I think JR will stick Power in and leave O9 at RB.

We were all wrong then (as usual).

Before I saw this I was just about to post why do you think Ross would go for Oviedo rather than Hume when Hume has already been on the bench and Ross has given out some negative vibes this week about Oviedo?

Will Sterling get his chance? My hope is that we're so far ahead after 60 minutes that it Sterling and Wyke can then come on and finish it off.

All will be revealed later.

I have a good feeling about tonight so I'm sending those vibes down the road.

Hard fought first half and we are lucky to be 0-0 but we are playing fine but no goal threat so far

A hard fought point - Barnsley had a lot of chances but in the end - in those conditions a point is a good result.

Over 18200 attendance with 4445 Sunderland supporters. Magnificent - but you can see why so many teams are  fighting so hard to keep us in this league! Very Happy

BBC Match Stats refect what i heard. We only had 1 shot in first half (the one on target in fact!) but much better in second half.

On Syds "recommendation" I bought the stream to watch on my lap top .. for the first time.

The game could have gone either way but was affected by the wind.
Two equally matched teams.

Missed about 10 mins or so when the stream was lost.  (Was that for everyone or just me?)

Luton won.   Pompey won.

10 games to go !

Shocked
