Bristol Rovers v Sunderland
Tue 05 Mar
KO 19.45
Memorial Ground
Checkatrade Trophy semi final
Live on Sky

For many this is a nothing game but it could lead to a Wembley final, not to be sniffed at IMO.
That said promotion is our main target so what team do we pick?

A team strong enough to get to Wembley. I would stick Wyke in. I would consider young Benji. Does Sterling finally get a game to show what he can do. Get Matthews in at RB. Keep a bloody good bench of guaranteed 1st 11 players in the event we need them.

Well it's match day for a meaningless game, unless we win of course then it will be a great game and trip to Wembley.

What will the team be?

I can't see it being a weak team with the final being the prize so.

Subject to fitness, the starting 11 from Saturday.

How much is the prize money worth?

Difficult one I'd maybe rest Catts and Grant (but have them on the bench) put power in and play Wykes up front

Is the continuing winning streak more important than a Wembley trip?

Yes an away day will be good and a trophy is a trophy but a 4th win on the trot will be fantastic for the mind of the players.

A Grigg goal will give him a massive boost.
Do we rest Catts and Grant when their partnership is the bedrock our wins are built on.

I am very pleased not to be Jack Ross today.

Bristol rovers will be playing some bairns as their manager said avoiding relegation is their priority. The kids will busting a gut to impress knowing a possible Wembley appearance is 90 mins away. For that reason play our 1st 11 get in at HT 3-0 up then give our fringe players a run out.

Simples.

Nice to see an SAFC team comfortable to be playing the ball out along the ground rather than just hoofing it at the first opportunity.
