5 games in 14 days

Post  Mackemneil on 2019-02-08, 5:22 pm

We now have a run of 5 games in the next 14 days in February. All league games and an excellent chance of winning each of those games. But, will we? to each of those teams it is a cup final and for 3 it is a visit to the Stadium of Light in front of their biggest crowd of the season so, challenging!!

Oxford (a)
Blackpool (h)
Accrington (h)
Gillingham (h)
Bristol R (a)

The difference now is that, with a relatively fit squad, Jack Ross can rotate a very strong squad.

We have an established keeper with a more confident back up.

We have three decent centre backs in Dunne, Flanagan and Baldwin who are improving together and Dunne's physicality is a bonus. They in turn are supported by an improving Ozturk.
At right back Matthews and the impressive O'Nien as cover; at left back James and Oviedo.

in midfield Ross has now got a multitude of options and combinations using Power, Cattermole and /or Leadbitter as the holding player(s), McGeouch, Honeyman, O'Nien as central players and Morgan, Gooch, McGuire and McGeady as wingers.

And four to choose from upfront Grigg, Wyke, Sterling and Watmore

Not forgetting all of the improving kids

I expect to see some time on the pitch for all of them this month and no longer worry about the risk of knocks and suspensions.

Playing them all will keep that spirit and competition for places going and offers a real chance of maximising our haul of points this month.

I will be worn out, may have a few early nights and get some more thick socks.
