Sunderland v  Newcastle United U23
Tue 08 Jan
KO 19.45

A lose lose game IMO, win and it will be because we only played the under 23 team, lose or draw and I am moving.

Do I pay the ten pound to watch on stream, certainly not going.

Given a choice this or the Luton game I'll take the 3 points.

Yes it would be nice to beat our great unwashed cousins and get closer to Wembley but it is all about getting back to the champoinship as far as I am concerned.

If it was not for the fact we are playing the skunks I would not give a tinkers cuss about this game. We are on a licking to nothing as well. So called fan trouble as well I expect.

I hope we'll reciprocate & use our U23's as the first team are out dead on their legs of late.

I will be watching on the clubs stream, for me its great value at ten pounds. There are a number of reasons for not going and yes sitting at home in the warmth is one of them. Getting older and the cold evenings are now that little colder.
The sad thing is I'm not alone, tickets are cheap and we play Newcastle but still the stadium is less than half full, the checkatrade just has not excited the fans of any club.

It is Under 21's anyway not U23's so in theory we should win well - but I expect lots of first team players to be missing so may give the unwashed a chance to win one for once Very Happy

Sunderland v Newcastle United U23 Empty Re: Sunderland v Newcastle United U23

Post  cyprussyd on 2019-01-07, 10:18 am

Supporters should allow additional time for their journey both to and from the stadium for Tuesday night’s Checkatrade Trophy match as there will be a number of changes to the normal matchday arrangements, including traffic management and entrance and exit procedures.
STADIUM OF LIGHT TURNSTILES
Turnstiles for home supporters will open at 6.30pm. Supporters can use any turnstile in the east or south stands to enter the stadium and do not have to use the turnstile listed on their match ticket. Home supporters should avoid the north stand area.
Sunderland supporters who use the emergency access road parallel to the Aquatic Centre as a short cut to access the stadium area on foot are also advised that this area will be briefly closed off during the movement of visiting supporters in and out of the stadium.
TICKETS
Supporters are reminded this is an all-ticket fixture and the deadline to purchase tickets is 5pm on Monday 07 January. There will be no sales on the day of the game and no cash turnstiles in operation.
ROAD CLOSURES/DIVERSIONS
Vaux Brewery Way, which runs parallel to the Aquatic Centre and Hilton Hotel, will be closed from 6.15pm until kick off. It will re-open at kick off and close again prior to final whistle to facilitate the safe movement of visiting supporters.
Anyone using the west stand car parks should enter and exit via Millennium Way (past the Bob Stokoe statue). Naturally this may lead to some additional congestion or delays and supporters are asked to show patience with police and stewards.
The Sheepfolds area (the industrial estate next to the stadium) will also be closed to all vehicles from 5pm on the day of the game.
TRAVEL
Sunderland AFC supporters can make their way to the stadium from the Stadium of Light Metro station, whilst visiting fans will use St Peter’s Metro Station.
The park and ride service will not be operating for this game.
FULL-TIME
At full-time, Sunderland AFC supporters should avoid the north stand area when exiting the stadium.
Those supporters wishing to access Kier Hardie Way from the east and south stands post-match are asked to use the path between the Hilton Hotel and the Everyone Active Aquatic Centre as Vaux Brewery Way will be closed.
HOSPITALITY CUSTOMERS
Guests in the hospitality areas of the stadium may face some restrictions in exiting via the main west stand entrance after the game as visiting supporters are escorted from the Carling Stand to their buses.
Northumbria Police advises that this is a regulated football match and anybody who is subject to a Football Banning Order (FBO) is not permitted to attend.

All Sunderland but with Wyke, Sinclair and Watmore leading the attack against a under 21 team we really should be a few goals up

ATM Sinclair is doing nothing to justify him staying the rest of the season, if we can get another striker in.

Wyke is a good target but a little ponderous.. Watmore obviously needs game time (2 years out) but not too sharp and his touch is poor. Still I reckon these two will get better
