VAR

Post  sunderpitt on 2018-12-28, 12:54 pm

Now I would be the first to admit... it does not solve all decisions and it can be wrong.. but

Neymar's dive in the world cup.. from penalty to him getting a yellow card

Then Bradford's goal that was'nt, Salah's dive against the mags.

A few of our red cards that should not have been..

Is there an argument against VAR?

NO.

Lose all the bloody camera's the 63 different angles, slow mo and "experts" having 25 views before they slate the ref.

The ref gets 1 view at it in real time and has to make a decision. Getting harder all the time due to the amount of cheats in the game now. How many people on here are willing to state they havent got it wrong. I have at the match been certain of a decision then got home, seen it on TV and realised wht a knacker I have been.

Obviously this wont happen due to the greed and money in the game now.

Couldn't agree more. Player mistakes are shrugged of as acceptable events, but a ref missing something is a cardinal sin that some managers will claim changed the course of the game. I feel that genuine honesty has disappeared out of the game by just about everybody connected to it, except for refs who have enough on their plates at any level of the game.

Well when var is introduced
Will it scrutinise every incident
If not it’s not worth having
It will happen we’re pressure from the more stronger person will bully the ref into
Looking at var
And other incidents will pass by

VAR .....It's ok if it goes in your favour...it's not if it dosen't.....bit like the ref's decision....only more expensive and still controversial

Should be just to make sure the ball has crossed the line or not
The rest should be down to the officials
Goal or not

I could live with that, indeed I think I did on Boxing Day

I go to a few Falcons games and watch Rugby on the box... I am atm Northants v Exeter

Rugby has time off for all stoppages, which i think helps, but is only used for serious foul play e.g. neck high tackles or try or no try.

In cricket it is well established, they even have an algorithm working out where the ball is going.

Imho I want VAR but the trials I have seen so far are not that good... the operation if it leaves a lot to be desired.. offside are easy but the Ref wandering off the pitch to look at a replay is bonkers... show it on the screen and use the video ref
