Sunderland confirm Didier Ndong's departure after reaching 'amicable' agreement

PHIL SMITH Email Published: 10:17 Updated: 10:29 Thursday 11 October 2018

Sunderland have confirmed the departure of Didier Ndong. The Gabonese international was served notice under his contract last month after failing to report for pre-season training. Sunderland midfielder Didier Ndong He eventually returned after a number of potential moves away from the club collapsed, before being sent away shortly after. Significantly, the Black Cats say they have reached an 'amicable' agreement to be compensated by the 24-year-old. The statement reads: "Sunderland AFC has reached an agreement with Didier Ndong for his departure on amicable terms. "As of 8 October 2018, he is no longer an employee of the club. "There is an agreement with the player for a payment by way of compensation upon his signing for a new club."

Well that is good news - always better to compromise and part on as best terms as possible. Does this now make him a free agent and able to sign for any club?

I suspect he already has a club lined up and needed to be legally clear to join them?

Firstly i can't understand why we signed him, not what was needed at the time. But when he played i had no objections to him, he always tried, never shied away. Not the best by añy means but we had worse. Pity how it panned out.

Agree vinkel but £13 mil for him £5 mil for Mvila at the time. A bad bad move imo.
