Great to have a class young player just about ready to return. He's our No 1 who'll walk straight back in.

My worry for the lad is that this league is so very physical....

They will have to be doubly sure that he is ready to return as a dangerous player will inevitably be targeted.....

I'm sure he'd have been doing strength work in the gym though?

Sorry but Watmore isn't as great as everyone is making out....yes he's a good player but he's not the Ronaldo or Pele that everyone is making him out to be....lots of pace (will he still have that after these two serious knee injuries?) and enthusiasm, but as I said before his last injury he needs to work on his final ball...be it a pass or a shot

He's played 22 games +21 as sub and scored 3 goals........our no1?..no...could he make a difference?..possibly....

at the moment Gooch is playing in his position so he's going to have to play really well to displace him....over to you Duncan..prove me wrong

I have to agree with all of that, especially the bit about Gooch.

Depends on how Watmore performs after his injuries
He may come back to his best
His best was as good as what we have got
I’m not for one minuet saying Watmore is a word beater but he was certainly good enough

All good points lads BUT we're in League One where I'd doubt he's ever played as an over 21.

I agree with everything you say but will add my worst thoughts to the Watmore issue. Ross and his medical team with ease Watmore back by giving him the final 10 or even 5 minutes until the turn of the year. Should that be successful they'll extend the time on the park to 30 or so minutes. Only at the very tail end of the season will they give him a start. Personally, I think he will pull the plug on his career before the end of the season and after he has had a few games as a late substitute.

I know that the medical world have moved a long way since the same injury ended Cloughie's career but I've had a nagging doubt about the lad'd injury since the second one. I hope that I'm several million miles wrong and Watmore makes it back to have a long and successful career with Sunderland FC.

I agree but it is a big IF.. but I hope so for his and the club's sake.

As somebody's mentioned.. what were career threatening injuries can now be overcome.. or not.. time will tell!

Article in Echo about Watmore. Ross rates him and reckons he will be a good asset. Is not going to rush him back.. steady as he goes.
