AFC Wimbledon v Sunderland AFC--Matchday Thread

AFC Wimbledon v Sunderland AFC
Sat 25 Aug
KO 15.00
Kingsmeadow

Well can we, 3 in a row, 2 away on the trot? Would anyone bet against it now.
Against Gillingham we were nothing like our best and that for me is great, 4-1 when not at our best can only bode well. I expect to see both Mathews and Oviedo back and how can we change anyone else unless injured.
I expect not just a win but a bloody good win.

Ross said both Matthews and Oviedo missed out through injury. Matthews travelled, Oviedo didn't - but Oviedo might yet join the squad tomorrow.

It's a tough choice: personally think we need McGeouch in there, he is calming on the ball and great distribution. Power was my man of the match!
Cattermole protected the back four very well, can they stay strong without him. Honeyman all energy, Gooch and McGuire threatening and Maja loves the ball at his feet.

It's tough choice!

Cattermole is the vulnerable one for me for the reasons you have outlined and when Wyke, Sinclair and Watmor are fit Ross really will have some tough decisions to make.

We could have a very interesting bench with McGeouch and Wyke in contention. Strong starting 11 and a very strong bench with lots of options, happy days.

IIRC before Wimbledon split in two.. I went to see  Sunderland play at Plough Lane.. they then moved to Crystal Palaces ground.

I cannot recall the score at Plough Lane in the mid 80s?

So are we playing the real Wimbleton or are they at Milton Keynes?

If I was a fan of the original Wimbledon I would say yes, today we play the real Wimbleton.

To win ugly is just as important as winning well.

Well done and a special well done to the cart horse named Cattermole.
