Gillingham v Sunderland

Post  cyprussyd on 2018-08-19, 9:37 pm

Gillingham v Sunderland
Wed 22 AugKO  19:45Priestfield Stadium

Well the games are coming thick and fast and I am loving every single minute of it, a team and a club to be proud of.
Ross made a comment after the Scunthorpe game about home and away being very different and I have a feeling we may see a change in tactics with a back 3, wing backs and a quick potent attacking forward line.
Until the month is over we will be guessing at who is available with both Catts and Oviedo possible departures but assuming both are available and we have no further injuries I expect few changes from a winning team.

Matthews went off with a calf problem, will be assessed before two away games.
McGeouch and Love will travel south for the games against Gillingham and AFC Wimbledon

Yes and Wimbledon I believe. just had a look and no tickets on sale for either game so sold out.

Sold out for a long trip south on a Wednesday evening, fantastic.

#safc's midweek game at Gillingham now an awayday sell-out - more than 2,000 fans making the trip. AFC Wimbledon (735) on Saturday also sold out

Well could be worse, down to 5th after tonight's games, a nice win will do.

How's everyone feeling about the next couple of games? Confident? Nervous? Neither? I must admit I'm slightly nervous  - I just want the lads to show that they can perform in the smallest grounds and pitches. This is very different to playing at the SoL infront of huge support. A decent win tonight will set them on their way. Here's hoping. I know it's early days but we need to stay in touch with the top.

A nervous confident, confident because the manager and most of the team are from the small crowd team background, it's we supporters who are not.

Nervous because our start is giving me a confidence that Ross wants, we will win every game but, I know thats unlikely.

I presume Gooch and James wingbacks? Power, Catts and Honeyman centre mids Maja up front and McGuire playing around him?

Ovideo injured/away? Matthews injured?

Josh Maja makes it 4-1, and becomes the first Sunderland player since David Halliday in the 1920s to score in four consecutive games.
