I am now booked into the Roker View Guest house on Saturday evening with Dave in the Balmoral during his stay. I hated the Roker hotel and was booked into the Hilton but just not for me so.

Will be meeting Dave around 12 in the conservatory at the Roker for a light lunch and wee dring then taxi to Colliery Tavern for a drink to Billy.

After the game we will be getting a taxi back from outside the Hilton, last time it was a 5.15 pick up.

So if anyone wants to meet us for lunch, jump in the taxi there or back just let me know.

Evening meet up is drink at Roker hotel then meal at Italian for

Sorry to be a nuisance but would prefer an earlier start if you don't mind, since we have an hour and a half drive home after what will be a long day. If we don't meet till 7 in bar, will also mean we have 2 hours to kill probably with only a coffee!

Does Roker Hotel have football on? Newcastle vs Man City are on BT Sport at 5:30pm.

Well I just need time to change into my party frock and curl my hair so any time does me for drinks and dinner so I am happy to go with the flow.

How about 1830 for table?
Enough time to get back from match, change and meet up
Even time for a quick drink for those who need less time to beautify themselves
Then after food, we can always have a drink in the bar if it's too soon for bed-time

How about we eat at 7 still early and it gives us time to have a pre dinner drink and chat without feeling rushed.

That's fine with me - appreciate the compromise. Will make our way there by 6pm -6:15pm, maybe sooner if we can watch the Newcastle match in the bar? See you then! Very Happy

The canary has landed, The canary has landed.

Collected at Durham railway station
Taken to B&B and checked in
Pint of Fosters bought at Roker Hotel
Handed over to night shift, Jerry, Nick is a trained carer, for evening

Told him he must have shower before Saturday

Re: Annual SunderMad night out

Post  Hieronymus on 2018-08-31, 9:34 pm

Really sorry everyone but will have to cry off the meal tomorrow night but will still come to the Tavern beforehand and the match itself.

Had a traumatic week - last Saturday went down to visit our son in Cheltenham and while we were there his dad (my ex husband, who came with us - all friends!) had a series of mini-strokes. He ended up 999'd to Gloucester and after 24 hours he was able to walk again so was allowed out - with dire warnings and lots of pills. But when we got back on Tuesday the paralysis came back and he was whisked off to Cramlington. After all the tests and scans he was moved to Wansbeck yesterday. His left leg is paralysed but his arm is not as bad - he can lift it, just has no strength. His face and speech are not affected. Anyway I am going to visit him every day (hour long journey each way to these hospitals) and we are feeding the cat, and doing his laundry as well. There is only me and his sister (lives in Cramlington) so she is going Saturday afternoon and we are going to the evening visiting from 6pm. I can't see him not have any visitors - its bad enough being in hospital in the first place.

Our daughter and grandchildren arrive home next Friday, permanently, so this is a complication we really could have done without. But it could have been so much worse and we are grateful for that. After everything she and the kids have been through this year already, the thought that they could have also lost Dad/Grandad would have been cruel beyond words. She is worried sick though, so another reason I have to go to make sure she gets all the latest information.

Hope you understand and will forgive me. Hopefully will get to see everyone at the Colliery Tavern and/or in the stadium anyway tomorrow - barring any more drama!

There is not a lot anyone can say about that plate full H.  I hope things work out for your ex and you can balance your life between the support you have to provide for both sides and generations of the family.
