Dear Mr Donald, welcome to Sunderland

Oh how I wish this was a sale complete post but sadly no, it's a slow, slow, quick, quick slow post, it's the Sunderland way.

We are very quick at selling a Pickford or a Henderson and can sack a manger before he is measured up for his training gear but, we do have a slow side.

The transfer window is a particularly frustrating time but hopefully you can change that and it seems confirming the sale of the club is in the first gear group.

I know it's not your fault but it is something we fans have become accustomed to however it still frustrated. Even the loyalist die hard like me is struggling to keep interest and that is a danger, we cant afford to see anymore fans opt for the pub or even worse, the metro centre on match day.

I know that most are like me, we want to talk about the future, the new manger and the new squad, dare I say it, the sale or even deportation of Rodwell.

But we cant, we are in limbo, a time warp and we fear a pre season like pre seasons that we have seen before, a new manager playing catch up in the recruitment stakes. Our paper thin squad is in danger of becoming even smaller, our kids becoming disillusioned and our fans disinterested.

Our little SunderMad forum I have found to be a very good barometer of the mind set of the Mackem, we want to talk, discuss and debate, above all we want to get excited and look forward with optimism.

Every day the same people visit but are finding it hard to comment when there is nothing to comment on, hours become days and days become weeks.

We are in very dangerous waters right now with two successive relegations and two enthusiasm draining seasons behind us, many have given up and this next few weeks could see many more join them, not through choice but through two words we always chant, hope and faith, both are being stretched to breaking point.

Let's hope and pray we have something positive to talk about very soon.

The apparent due diligence by the English Football League into the takeover of the club by Stewart Donald is almost over, and the former Eastleigh FC chairman is expected to announce as such in the coming days.
