Statement from Stewart Donald:
“All of us involved in this takeover believe that Sunderland AFC represents an extraordinary opportunity. Our group have been involved in building/re-building clubs in order to reach their potential and we believe that over the last decade we have acquired the necessary skill sets to overcome challenges that we face at this club. The situation needs to be addressed with realism, focus and dedication. For a club with one of the best fan bases, stadiums and academy’s, we find it completely unacceptable for such a club to be in league 1. We want to restructure the club and make it sustainable and with the help of the fans, we want to restore the sense of pride at Sunderland AFC and reconnect it with the local community.
We are rolling our sleeves up to do what needs to be done to ready this club to start competing at a high level again.”

Fine words. His track record is good. Would be interested to know who the others in the consortium are.

TBH after the torid time we have gone through it could be a consortium of Piers Morgan, Donald Trump and the woman off the Scottish Widows ad I would not care. Would draw the line at Ian Duncan Smith mind.

It's good that Short has gone

It's good debts cleared

It's good the front man knows (lower league) football

What we need to know now is who else is in the consortium and how much cash do they have. As my guess is that outgoings>incoming.

Still it is a better evening than morning for SAFC... moving in the right direction... pity about Coleman

Agreed about Coleman but I can only assume they have someone lined up or why let him go

Thank GOD mrs May is an Arsenal fan, and not interested.
