Surely he will do time? Not his 1st offence. He battered some cyclists when he was blotto and over the limit years ago.

He has already served a 20 month driving ban for the same thing.

Chris Coleman said he was unable to comment fully on the incident involving Darron Gibson until he finds out exactly what happened. Gibson was been involved in a crash which wrecked a number of vehicles on Saturday morning, hours before Sunderland's 2-0 home defeat to Preston North End. The Echo understands the player, who is still three weeks away from a first team return due to a groin injury, was driving on Dovedale Road in Fulwell at 11.55am today. Read the full story here: The Sunderland boss was asked about the incident post-match. Coleman said: "I was told just before the game that there has been an incident. "I don't know exactly. I have heard one or two rumours but until I speak with everybody here to find out exactly what has happened. "I know there is an incident but I don't know exactly what has happened. "Until I find out exactly what has happened, this morning I believe, it is difficult for me to say anything until I get all the evidence." A Northumbria Police spokesman said: "A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of driving over the legal alcohol limit and he is currently in police custody. "Inquiries are ongoing and the arrest follows the report of a car colliding with a number of parked vehicles in Dovedale Road, Sunderland. "Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident number 458 of today's date." The force has not confirmed the identity of the arrested man. Gibson has been pictured speaking to a police officer in the street, which is just a short distance away from the club's training ground, the Academy of Light. Witnesses said Gibson was in one of the cars when the collision happened and was put into a police car after officers made their initial inquiries. Vehicles damaged include a Mercedes 4x4, another Mercedes and a white Seat. The 30-year-old player joined Sunderland in January last year on an 18-month deal after playing for Everton over a five-year stretch. The Republic of Ireland international is out of contract in the summer.

Anybody who drinks & drives should be shot through the back of t5he knees with a 9mm pistol.
Let's see the bastards drive with no knees.
That's what they do in Northern Ireland.
And with joy riders & people who rob old folk,
The paramilitaries do it. The police know but they just let them crack on with it as it saves them work.
This is justice NI style.

Last Updated: 18/03/18 7:28am

Sunderland midfielder Darron Gibson has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving following a car crash, according to Sky sources.
Police were called following reports of a crash in Dovedale Road in Sunderland just before midday on Saturday.
Northumbria Police have released the following statement: "A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of driving whilst over the legal alcohol limit and he is currently in police custody and inquiries are ongoing.

"The arrest follows the report of a car colliding with a number of parked vehicles on Dovedale Road in Sunderland at about 11.55am today."
Republic of Ireland international Gibson, 30, is currently out due to injury and has not played for Sunderland since New Year's Day.
Following Saturday's 2-0 loss to Preston, Sunderland manager Chris Coleman was asked about Gibson's alleged arrest and said: "I was told just before the game that there was an incident this morning.
"I've heard one or two rumours but I don't know exactly what has happened, and until I speak to everybody here and find out, it is difficult for me to say anything."

He’s been suspended
Should of been sacked
There’s a out her one claiming wages for nowt
Maybe we are hoping some one will buy him when his contract runs out
Actually the money we could get if we did sell him may not make up for the wages he will get whitest suspended

I dont think we can sack him until he is found guilty but I could be wrong and are we paying him while suspended, again I dont know but hope not.

A club statement read: "Sunderland AFC has suspended Darron Gibson with immediate effect, after the player was charged with driving with excess alcohol on Saturday 17 March. "The football club has commenced a full investigation into the matter." Sunderland AFC’s chief executive, Martin Bain said: "We expect the highest standard of behaviour from our players and should any individual fall short of those standards then robust action must be taken." Witnesses said Gibson was in one of the cars when the collision happened and was put into a police car after officers made their initial inquiries. Vehicles damaged include a Mercedes 4x4, another Mercedes and a white Seat.
