Still in touch,but

It seems we are one of those seasons where the teams at the bottom are hell bent on leaving it until season end, last night again we had one positive in a season full of negatives, all around us lost.

IMO and just about everyone else's Cookie got it wrong last night by sticking with Fletcher ahead of Asoro and indeed Maja.
McCready and Mcmanaman gave us their one in 4 performance on Saturday giving very little last night but, and its the but that could sink us, our defence.

A defence made worse, if that's possible through injuries,

@JHunterChron
Coleman: I've only got one fit CB ahead of weekend. We'll have to see how O'Shea reacts[ltr]#safc[/ltr]

Letting in 3 goals against Villa is nothing to be ashamed of however, letting in 3 goals like last night against anyone is.
MOTM from Saturday Steele was back to his flapping best, O'Shea is finding it one season to far, Browning cant play on the left and Kone is still excellent when he chooses but he chooses not to be excellent for 90 minutes.

We can bring in Asoro, Maja, Williams and LuaLua along with Honeyman, Gooch and Robson on Saturday but it will be all wasted unless we can stop giving silly goals away and we simply dont have the players capable of doing that, our best CB last night was Jones when he came on and we all know he is a very, very poor CB.

forget the official attendance of 26,081 we had under 20,000 there last night and that will reduce for the remaining 5 home games.

I will remain hopeful of a miracle and survival but I'm afraid it is only hope, ask we how and I have no answer.

Someone reminded me on the trip home last night of our conversation last season, "At least relegation will let us see winning football", well we got that wrong and there is no guarantee at all that relegation will be any different next season.

Loan players will leave, the Asoro's will be sold, even O'Shea can't do another season, Rodell will still be collecting his 70K a week and the players left won't have a relegation clause in their contracts so our crippling wage bill will cripple us even more.

We need a buyer for the club but all I hear about our assets are the stadium and the fantastic training facilities, well neither of those win football matches.

The common shout is we are shit, well I disagree, we are just not good enough. Last night's first half we were as good as Villa, albeit Villa never broke sweat but we failed in two areas. Fletcher was through one on one with the keeper and made a balls of it and at the other end we gave Villa two goals, two rather important flaws in football.

Can we go and beat QPR, of course we can, will we, now that's a much harder question.

We are not down until the arithmetic of points and games left do not match.  However as each game is lost the odds of being relegated increase.

It was also odds on that Grabban would score!

Some bookies have stopped taking bets on it.
