Rees Greenwood

Post  cyprussyd on 2018-01-25, 6:08 pm

Sunderland AFC have announced that winger Rees Greenwood has left the club by 'mutual consent'. The winger moved to Wearside at the age of eight and progressed through the ranks at the Academy of Light, representing the club at every age group including under-18 and under-23 level. In February 2016, Greenwood's impressive performances led to him scooping the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award and he also earned international recognition, featuring for England's under-20 side. Later that season he made his Premier League debut on the final day of the season, as he started in a 2-2 draw with Watford at Vicarage Road. In a statement, the Black Cats wished Greenwood well saying "everyone at the club would like to wish him well for his future".

It's a shame I honestly thought he was a better prospect than Watmore.

Wonderful news for the young man. I hope he's now able to concentrate on the challengers ahead and achieve his goals in life.

Fingers crossed more will take or seek the opportunity.
