Woodburn not looking good

Post  cyprussyd on 2018-01-18, 9:37 am

Chris Coleman wanted the 18-year-old forward on a loan deal until the end of the season and the Daily Mail claimed an agreement had been struck between the two clubs.
But Jurgen Klopp was reportedly refusing to rubber-stamp Woodburn’s move to the Stadium of Light as he was assessing his attacking options as a result of Philippe Coutinho’s £142million move to Barcelona.
And, according to The Sun, the Liverpool boss has now vetoed Woodburn’s departure.
Sunderland are in dire need of attacking reinforcements after seeing Lewis Grabban and James Vaughan depart.
Josh Maja, 19, and Joel Astro, 18, are the only forwards on the Black Cats’ books.
Coleman hoped his links to Woodburn would smooth out any potential problems in signing the Liverpool forward on loan.

Sunderland have approached Derby over a loan deal for Chris Martin, Sky Sports News understands.

The Rams made Martin available for loan earlier this week, with Reading another Sky Bet Championship club interested in the striker.
Martin has fallen down the pecking order at Pride Park following the £1.5m signing of Cameron Jerome from Norwich on Wednesday.

Martin, 29, has made only five league starts this season and is currently one of five strikers in Gary Rowett's squad along with Jerome, David Nugent, Darrent Bent and Sheffield Wednesday loanee Sam Winnall.
Martin was sent on loan to Fulham last season by former manager Nigel Pearson, but wanted to return after he was sacked and Steve McClaren returned at the helm.
Scotland international Martin remained at Craven Cottage and helped Fulham reach the Championship play-offs last season.

As a Scottish international he is used to playing North of the border, so the SOL would be tropical by comparison!!
