Darren Bent available for loan - Sunderland fans divided on if they'd take him back

We asked Sunderland fans if they would take Darren Bent back, with the 33-year-old available for loan

Derby County are willing to let Darren Bent leave on loan this month - with Sunderland fans divided on whether they’d welcome him back at the Stadium of Light.
Bent scored 32 Premier League goals for the Black Cats in 58 appearances during an 18-month spell on Wearside between 2009 and 2011 before his controversial exit to Aston Villa.
Since then his career has taken somewhat of a downward spiral and, now 33, he seems set to depart Pride Park having fallen way down the pecking order under Gary Rowett.
Bent has spent much of the season injured, but has returned to fitness in recent months and completed his first 90 minutes on Sunday against Sunderland’s U23s at Eppleton.
Burton manager Nigel Clough confirmed yesterday that they had made an enquiry about Bent, but admitted he’s not too confident of landing him.
Clough told the Burton Mail: “We speak to Gary Rowett regularly at Derby, and we know he (Bent) has been out of the picture.
“So he’s one of a dozen players that we’ve enquired about.
“But I would think with his pedigree that he’s got a few offers to choose from.
“Because of our position in the league, apart from geographically, he’ll probably have better clubs higher up the league to go to.
“I think there are four or five players at Derby that fall into that category (of being potential moves, but that could prove difficult to do), so he’s not the only one.
“We’ve had a chat about it, and we’ll just see what happens in the next couple of weeks.
“I would think we are down the pecking order in terms of that one.”
With Sunderland in desperate need of at least one new striker this month, would it be a deal that made sense for the Black Cats?

I wondered when this one would come up. Is he good enough any more? I really don't know the answer to that. He said some foolish things when he left but he was given some dodgy advice, including by the England manager. Somehow I don't dislike him as much as the ginger one up the road but again - is he good enough?

If Coleman decide he could do a job for us he would be welcomed by me.
Not sure we can refuse anyone right now.

Cookie has a set of questions:

Do you have the hunger .............. No!

Do you have the personality for the fight ....... No, he is a lazy git!

Would he be a role model for the young lads and lift the dressing room ...... No!

Do you really want to play for Sunderland .... No, but he is desparate to play for someone!!

I think this answers the question.

This would have been the old way, not Cookie's way!!!

Can’t fault MNs thinking there, see we have let our third choice keeper go as well didn’t realize we had one and how bad must he be to not get a game ahead of Ruiter and Steele?
