who would believe that we can class this as a six-pointer this early.  The Fulham result is one we could/should build on and hopefully the players and crowd will play their part in lifting one another - 'tis the season of goodwill after all. love sunderland

Well the saying is you wait ages for a bus to come... then several come at once... I expect the force to be with us

Same starting 11 except for N'Dong replacing Gooch

Well I would have N'Dong in place of Gooch and if Ovideo is fit he is LB and Matthews goes to RB... Otherwise same team.

Vaughan had a good game, so plays. Grabban does not do a great deal other than score so he starts... seeing the young'uns come on might give them the incentive to play even better as they have competition. Good psychology by Coleman

Love, Asoro, Maja, Steele, Gooch, McGeady plus say Embleton as subs

Re: SUNDERLAND V BIRMINGHAM. Match Day Thread

Post  cyprussyd on 2017-12-20, 6:52 pm

Chris Coleman is expecting to have pretty much the same squad of players at his disposal this weekend against Birmingham City.
The Welshman believes Saturday’s match will come too soon for Costa Rican full-back Bryan Oviedo and midfielder Paddy McNair, who have been sidelined since the start of the month.
Didier Ndong provided a welcome boost last Saturday as he returned to action against Fulham, and the Black Cats boss has revealed the Gabon international has trained well this week as attentions switch to Birmingham City.
Speaking to safc.com, Coleman mulled over his options for Saturday's home match against Birmingham while providing update on the fitness of defender Lamine Kone.
“I think this weekend will be a bit early for Bryan Oviedo and we don’t think Paddy McNair will be available either,” he said,
“Didier Ndong got 15 or 20 minutes at the weekend and has trained well today so that is quite positive.
“Lamine Kone is out for another four weeks at least.
“Jack Rodwell is still working hard in training but not fit so we have pretty much got what we have got going into a big match this weekend.”

So following on from injury news... Matthews  (poor bloke) has to continue at LB and be targeted by the opposition.

I would still have N'Dong in for Gooch... Otherwise no change.. not sure if Catts on the bench... probably not

Now now it is Christmas no need to be provocative

It seems Ovideo will be on the bench... so Galloway will drop out on contention

I think I read Oviedo will be on the bench not fit enough  to start

So Mathews and Love it is then, or do we bring back Galloway?

Well it was a point.. we had chances and did not take them. We actually looked less likely to score when they went down to 1o men

Oh dear  pale

If you thought it was bad at SAFC this Christmas, spare a thought for our local allegedly professional club the Phoenix whose manager like Coleman having inherited a cesspit of wannabees has just invited anyone who wants to to leave, to do so by 1 Jan!

No matter how poor the results, I'll not let them burst my happy little bubble☀
