Season long loan,  and no mention of a recall clause.

How about we offer to send Bournemouth Jack Rodwell in exchange for Defoe eh? tongue

EXCLUSIVE: Sunderland facing hammer blow over loan striker Grabban
Date published: Tuesday 28th November 2017 2:25

New Sunderland boss Chris Coleman is set to suffer a hammer blow with loan star Lewis Grabban likely to leave in January.

A host of clubs have already contacted the parent club of Grabban, Bournemouth, who are eager to transfer him on a permanent basis – something which Sunderland are unable to offer.

TEAMtalk understands Bournemouth have a recall clause in January, which will allow them to sell Grabban, and Sunderland will not be able to prevent the Cherries from enforcing the clause.

Both Wolves and Fulham are ready to make moves for 29-year-old Grabban, who has bagged 10 goals in 13 starts for the Black Cats so far during his loan spell.

Bournemouth re-signed Grabban from Norwich for £8million in January 2016, but he made only 18 appearances before joining Sunderland on a season-long over the summer.

Grabban left Bournemouth for Norwich for £3million in 2014.

Chris Coleman facing nightmare Sunderland scenario as Wolves eye Lewis Grabban

Post  Silvers on 2017-11-29, 12:35 pm

Sunderland could lose loanee Lewis Grabban in January with Bournemouth considering selling the striker to Wolves or Fulham.

Chris Coleman would have been fully aware that it was unlikely he’d be able to keep his Sunderland side intact during the January transfer window.
With debts spiralling and funds low, The Northern Echo reports that the Black Cats must cash in on some of their high-earners and prized assets at the turn of the year. It is understood that Lamine Kone, Didier Ndong and £60,000-a-week Jack Rodwell are all to be made available.
One player Coleman would be loath to lose, however, is Lewis Grabban. One of the signings of the season in the Championship, the Bournemouth loanee’s 10 goals in 13 starts have ensured that Sunderland have not been cut adrift at the bottom of the table.
No other player in the Black Cats’ squad has scored more than four. So it’s fair to say that new manager Coleman would have been pinning his hopes on Grabban as he aims to guide Sunderland away from the bottom three.
So just imagine the distress if Grabban is taken away from Sunderland in January. Per TEAMtalk, parent club Bournemouth put a recall clause in the 29-year-old’s contract which would allow them to cut his loan spell short midway through the season.
is understood that Bournemouth may exercise this option which Championship duo Wolves and Fulham willing to pay a transfer fee to sign Grabban on a permanent deal. With league leaders Wolves needing one more striker, it appears that the former Norwich City goalscorer could be the final piece in their promotion jigsaw.
But this is pretty much the nightmare scenario for Coleman.
How would a Sunderland side who spent the lowest amount on transfer fees in the summer manage to finance a replacement for Grabban?

Whilst Kone, N Dong and Rodwell (unlikely) may generate some cash, there is no certainty at all  that this would be given to our Coal Man...  more is the pity...

We got £100m for finishing 20th, yet the £30m for Picks did not go to the manager. We reap what we sow.

Let us hope that is a lesson for the club as we approach January.

With the premiership tantalizingly close for Wolves, how would they not go for Grabban to cement their push? We couldn't blame them if they did.
