Coleman and cash

Post  cyprussyd on 2017-11-19, 8:59 am

The main topic of conversation about Coleman's appointment, well the one after am I dreaming, is the January transfer kitty and how big it will be but how big does it need to be?

I would suggest that it wont be or need to be that big and that is yet another reason Coleman is here.

The hard facts are we are bottom of the Championship and its unlikely we will be signing players for tens of million and TBH I doubt they would come anyway. We need a couple of championship quality players, probably one to stop the goals and one to help score them.
Coleman at Wales had one top player in Bale and lots of championship level players and I would guess that's the market he will be shopping in.

We and he have one simple target this season to climb as far up the table as possible and we dont need major surgery for that.

Summer is the big question because if Coleman is to achieve his reported target of promotion within 18 months then it's the summer that cash will be needed.

Maybe the unspoken plan is to have new owners by then.

Promotion in 18 months!!!!
Not sure what they are smoking but, it must be blurring their vision a bit, have they not watched us last season and this?
Hope that is just reported mate because with the amount of players and the quality of player we need I can’t see us being promoted for about 3 years. Let’s just look at surviving this season then go from there.

I don't see Coleman having a lot of money to spend, but what he does get needs to be spent on a centre back and a forward....for many a keeper is now on the list, but getting a good one costs big money and I think the other two positions need strengthening first...let's face it if Grabban gets injured we've got Vaughn left (hasn't scored yet) Maja (young inexperienced, just coming back from injury) and Asoro (dosen't look ready yet, needs bulking up imo)....while at centre back we'd have to look at youngsters at the moment (which may not be a bad thing but again, are inexperienced).....about £15 million tops, is what I think Short will allow at the moment, which might just cover the two signings (and yes before anyone says it, we probably need more)....hopefully a bigger pot of money would be available in the summer because, remember, all our loan players will disappear then.

I reckoned we needed a CB a RB a striker and yes now a keeper.

If we are to have a chance of a clean sheet we must have a decent keeper. The numpties occupyig the space between the sticks ate not good enough
One mistake okay.. but yesterday he did it twice

Our best option would have been young Max Stryjek, on loan at Accrington Stanley but he got injured on his debut for them and has only just come back from injury himself.

Mind his first game back they beat Wigan 4-0 so maybe one to keep an eye on. Don't know if its a season long loan or if he can be recalled in January but if he can then we need to go for it I think.

Stryjek is on a season long loan deal at Accrington. Although I can find nothing about the terms I get the impression there is no call back clause.
