Will leaving the EU cut back on foreign managers and players

Post  Rovertsafc on 2017-11-11, 12:03 pm

Posting a question here,do you think the British leagues will benefit from less foreign managers and foreign footballers.
For me each team should only be allowed so many foreign players, this in turn should give more up and coming talent a better chance to get into the game at all levels.

I voted out but TBH can see us staying in. Don't think anything will stop the top clubs getting who and what they want.

It was the EU employment rules that gave football the Bosman situation.  England outside the EU will become an interesting situation recruiting and contract wise but I for one sincerely hope some of our promising youngsters are persevered with during their development if the parade of foreign players is shut off.

Better still kill off the loan system and make the elite sell or sign, but make sure it is within England.

Does anyone seriously think rich clubs won't be able to get players from anywhere in the world, including the EU, when and  if they want them? They still wont take the risk on developing youngsters unless the FA forces them to.

And I won't  hold my breath on that, given how well the FA have demonstrated their understanding of the demands on professional football clubs, and how the good of the English game and the success of the England team, is always at the forefront of their minds! NOT!  Rolling Eyes

But even if free movement ends, which I still have my doubts about, there will always be a system for foreign workers, including footballers, to come to this country because, despite what Brexiteers like to think, this country will collapse (and is already collapsing) without foreign workers.

Did they not try this a few years ago with a limit in foreign players? Didn’t work then won’t work now too much money involved in our game and, too many in high positions ie FA who will veto this.

I was watching the news the other day about all this carry on in Spain.
If Catalonia get their independence then the Spanish government is saying that Barcelona wont be allowed to play in the Spanish Primera.
I assume this also applies to the other Catalan clubs in Espanyol & Girona?
Christ Alfucking mighty. Imagine the revenue lost there just to make a point.
