Given what is available at the minute I would settle for Pearson.  He is at least a battler, but I did find it odd that Reid and Keane were at SoL as reported last week.

For me the sacking came to quickly after the game with no mention on who is taking charge short term. Do they already have someone ready to take over.

My thoughts also, maybe he knew what was happening and could not even go with a win.  Whoever we get it will be another salvage job.

Yes and he was also there on Saturday so he had a good look or is there more to it?

Mind coming back while Short is still here would be a massive surprise, I can see a Nigel Pearson and I would be happy with that.

Club Statement:

Sunderland AFC has this evening parted company with manager Simon Grayson.
The club would like to place on record its thanks to Simon and his staff for their efforts during their time at the football club.
Chief executive Martin Bain said: “Simon and his team have worked tirelessly to achieve the best for the football club during their time here.
“While we hoped that Simon’s experience in the Football League would help us to a successful season, results have not been good enough for a club of this stature.
“In order for us to improve upon our current position we believe a fundamental change is necessary.”
Assistant manager Glynn Snodin also departs.

Only a win would have kept his job sadly for us couldn’t even manage that. He was way too far out of his depth it was unreal.
No doubt Short will go for the cheap option ie Stockdale.

Sportsmail can reveal that Bain was waiting in the tunnel after the game. As Grayson entered his manager's office he was told he was fired, before he had even given his post-match debrief to the players and within two minutes of the full-time whistle.

Got to admit the way it was handled was a disgrace at least give the bloke a nights sleep. Unfortunately that is how far down our caring club (remember that one) has come.

Yeah have to agree. But that is the way of the management consultant and many American corporates. Human beings are just economic assets to them, to be discarded like trash, when they are of no more value to the business.

I was no cheerleader for Grayson and knew he was on borrowed time, but the way he was sacked showed a shocking lack of respect, despite the weasel words in the club statement. Disgraceful.  As you say shows how far we have fallen. Is it any wonder there are fewer and fewer bums on seats these days?

0 HAVE YOUR SAY Simon Grayson has said he is disappointed not to be continuing as Sunderland manager but hopes the club can return 'first class football' to supporters in the near future. Grayson was sacked just minutes after Tuesday night's 3-3 draw with Bolton, having won just one of his fifteen Championship games. In a statement released via the League Managers Association this morning, Grayson said: "I would like to take this opportunity to express my thanks to the club and all the fans, players and staff at the club's training ground and Stadium of Light, "Sunderland AFC is a huge football club and while I am disappointed not to be continuing as its manager, I hope that the club will stabilise and return the success and first-class football that the supporters and people of Sunderland deserve. "I would like to wish everyone associated with Sunderland AFC all the very best for the future."
