Sunderland almost completed a brilliant signing in the summer transfer window by bringing in Jordan Hugill from Preston North End, but their chance has surely gone now.

However, [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] refused to pay Preston’s asking price for the target-man and his value has only risen now.
Preston are now said by[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] to be looking for £12 million for the striker, who has scored frequently this campaign.
Hugill has netted six goals in 13 matches across all competitions for North End, with his performances catching the eye.
Sunderland would have loved to have a striker of Hugill’s quality, as their current batch of forwards have struggled to find the back of the net.
Sunderland’s lack of a goalscoring forward has proven a big problem, with Grayson’s side currently in 23rd position in the [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] table

Did we refuse to pay or could we not pay?

I think the masterplan was sell Kone NDong or both to fund Hugill and McCormack and further reduce debt, the only flaw in the plan was no one wanted them

Probably the second one syd, if we had sold Kone and Ndong we would only get one or the other not both. Sod’s law though one would come to us and fall flat on his face it’s the Sunderland way.
